I have considered going to the Ace Cafe many-a-time over the last few weeks.
How far is it ?? About 140 miles ???
You'd be looking at a tank to get to the Ace, a tank to get back and probably a tank what with all the faffing in between no?
I must admit I'm tempted especially if us Welshy's are allowed to enjoy the culinary delights of Mr & Mrs Vox.
i have always wanted to go to the ACE too, and this way we get to go to the ace, meet some of londons finest ORGers and attend a BBQ........ what more could you possible want.
im guessing its 2 and a half hours to get there?
so it would be a early start (7-7.30am), as the rideout starts at 10.30
unless we just went to the ace for a look then met the ORGers?
"Meeting time will be 2:00pm to leave about 2:15 - 2:30.
We'll have a short little blast round some of the local lanes & aim to be back at the house at about 3:00ish - food should be ready about 3:30."

Not particularly bothered to be fair. We could aim to get down there early but a 7am start in March with a 2hr trip down the M4 doesn't sound too appealing...
It's going to be one of those things where I make a decision a week before the date based on weather. Little point me saying 110% yes now only to pull out the day before due to rain.
Lets keep a lazy eye on how things develop but I'm definately interested for sure..
yeh yeh yeh oh yeh people come to london... be great to see some old faces again ;) .. and obviously some new ones :grouphug:

Well, you don't have to go down the M4. You could go up to Oxford on the A40 via Cheltenham then down the M40. Incidentally, the M40 becomes the A40 once you get to London and the Ace Cafe is just off the A40. Clear as mud.
Dead easy.

Well, from here (Forest of Dean) its about 1.5 hours to Oxford then another hour to the Ace. From Caerphilly I would estimate it to be about 3.25 - 3.5 hours.
There are loads of different ways to go:
M4 to J15, A417 to Cirencester, A40 to Oxford then M40 to London.
A48 to Gloucester, A417 to Birdlip, A40 to Oxford then M40 to London.
M4 to J13, A34 to Oxford etc, etc............ to name but a few. Not much in it time-wise but some are obviously longer than others. Take your pick. It depends if you want a scenic trip or not.
150 miles from Abergavenny without using M'ways. (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&hl=en&geocode=&saddr=abergavenny&daddr=NW10+7UD&mra=cc&dirflg=h&sll=51.61853,-1.64965&sspn=1.558666,5.053711&ie=UTF8&z=8)

Just a reminder to let you know that the Ace Shakedown Run (& my BBQ) is only a few days away (24th).
Should we be expecting any visitors from your neck of woods ?
Look forward to meeting some of you (I hope) !!!
i might be up for that because im off on the tuesday aswell, just dont fancy the m4 because i use it to go to work. or if its raining of course
there has been a few peeps intrested..... i think the best plan would to be give the ace rideout a miss, as its too early, just get to the ace just for a look, then to supervox's bbq

Just a thought here guys -
If you really want to do 'the Ace thing' I have a suggestion -
Ride to the Ace Cafe on SUNDAY - always a bike meet - no need for a particularly early start as there are bikes around all day - then ride on down to Southend where Mrs Vox & I can provide food of some kind & floor space to crash - wake up bright & early on Monday morning (courtesy of the twins) ready for the day's merriment !!
We can offer floor space (and probably an inflatable matress if someone asks nicely !!) to 3 people. I'm sure we can fit at least 1 more bike in the garage & if there are a couple more they'll fit behind the car on the drive - we've never had any 'problems' with bikes parked overnight before.
If anyone is interested then a PM will 'secure your place' - along with a reply giving you directions / tel no. etc.
Hope some of you can make it :D

i like that idea. if im honest i didnt really fancy a ride all the way to the ace at 7am, then a ride around wherever then however many miles back. dont want to sound like im moaning but this would my first long distancey ride for me. usually its just back and for to work and i have to do a ride out sooner or later
anyone else intrested?
we would need somone with some sort of sense of direction to lead.
