Well as i'm a new user the 'sticky' bit suggested this would be the place to say hello to everyone;
So, Hello everyone!
A bit about me: I just turned 20 and just passed my restricted licence late last year, and having held it for about 4 months and after buying my first bike(A blue SV650s K-3, all standard); promply managed to ram said bike into the back of a van! :smt093

Completely my fault unfortunately, i was running late for work so i didn't have time for my 'wake up' coffe (or three) and cigarette. i was in a bad mood, and just wasn't concentrating properly, hence "pilot error." Fortunately i was wearing all my protective clothing as always, and came off nearly completely unscratched. (though my pride was damaged somewhat! :()
The bike was a different matter, the first thing to touch down was the RAD, left indicator and gear lever. all of which i promptly replaced. The fairing is damaged, but not severely, and i will replace that shortly.
I'm not put off at all, just the opposite in fact. It makes me determined to become a better rider!

In general i am VERY pleased with my first bike, though i can only compare it to the stupid 125 that i used on the test; Which by all accounts, was a death trap. Even so, i'm pleased it's so 'new rider' friendly. In fact it was browsing this site as a non-member that persuaded me to get one! thanks everyone!

And thats me up until now, I hope to go on rideouts (though compared to most i'm probably painfully slow, especially with the restriction. But i might add i don't mind getting lost.) and do other bike 'stuff' and thought that this site seemed to be a good place to start.

Kind Regards, Zakx.

Hi Zakx:)

Ouch, but well done for being determined.

It might help to put your location in. That way, people local to you can let you know:)

How do, I also had a run in with a van back in November. Wouldn't say it was my fault tho, the bugger did a u-turn in front of me and I rode into the side of him.
What ****ed me off most tho was that he insisted it was my fault!
Fortunately there was no great damage - a new clutch lever and gear shift lever + a few scratches, so wasn't worth involving insurance. but even so :smt013

Anyhoo, welcome aboard!

Welcome to the org ... there's a couple of newbie/returning rider rideouts THIS weekend if you're interested? (and if they are within easy ride of you). Pace will be sedate to say the least, and it's intended to also give the group a chance to get used to riding in a group. Check out the Rideouts & Meetings and the Border Patrol sections if you are interested ;-)

hello, im new too, this seems like a very nice site.

Whatever happened to our rigorous screening program for newbies? I thought we'd come up with the definitive one: Are you hovis, yes or no?

That was meant to keep the riff-raff out...

Welcome in young fella. If anyone tells you I'm a deviant it's just because I didn't offer them any sweeties and to come and see some puppies...

Welcome Zakxipod :D

Try and keep it shiney side up from now on wont you ;)

Enjoy the site, dont feed Bear and if Hovis tells you anything about yellow bikes being best remeber to ingore him as hes so new.
The fact he has nearly twice as many posts as me is testament to how much he's ignored when he starts all that yellow stuff.

EVERYONE knows curvey, naked and blue is the best ;)

You didn't offer me any sweeties when I joined and I love puppies, especially spaniels and collies. I always talk to strange men too, it's the normal looking quiet ones who chop you up and eat your kidneys!
