View Full Version : UFO's?
Do you believe in them?
Do you think you've ever seen one?
I'm pretty damn sure I saw one once, a long time ago. It was definitely flying, it was definitely not a meteor or a plane, it was definitely something I couldn't identify. I was seriously into star-gazing then so spent a lot of time watching the sky, and had never seen anything like it before. It got me so intrigued I did a lot of reading on the subject, and even went off down to Warminster and spent the night on the top of Cley Hill with my other half. (Didn't see any UFO's, but exactly 9 months later my daughter was born............and she is living proof that aliens are amongst us)
How about you?
A believer?
A non-believer?
I think it would be pretty damned arrogant to assume we are the only intelligent species in the universe, though why any advanced race would want to visit this planet is beyond me:D

I once saw a UFO.
It was about 5 in the morning and I must have been not even 10. We were loading the car up to go on holiday (don't ask me why we had to do this at 4 in the morning) and up in the sky was a UFO. And not just any UFO it was a proper full on flying saucer, with lights and all.
The truth is out there...
And here it is; I grew up in Bristol, which has a balloon fiesta, and we were on the flight path. Was great to see all these funky shapes flying over the house. Just that year someone decided to start the show early!

Am not sure, i suppose if i`m truthful i`d find it extremely hard to believe but having said that the universe is so vast and if we`re only one little part of it and very much alive then who knows!

i believe in objects, that are unidentifiable, flying in the sky, so yes, i believe in UFOs...
do i think they're alien spacecraft? no...

We see things on the radar all the time, no respect for controlled airspace. referred to as 'angels'.

i totaly think that too. Out of hundereds of billions of stars how can we possibly be the only "intelligent" life?
But with so many UFO stories having been a suitable cover for covert military planes in testing its hard to know if they have really ever visited here...or if they have why have they not made contact with us....by us i mean the normal population.
Surley if they met Bush or his cronies they damned well know thats they aint the best of our race with just a quick glance....so if they have been here why have they kept it so quiet?
I totaly understand why any Govt would keep it quit as it destabalises their power base...well all except the Mexcans who seem to have daily sightings that are covered on mainstream news programs too.
See this http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=bWyzl4gAf6A as one example

Yes, I wondered about radar. It's funny, but you don't seem to hear much about UFO's these days, I don't know why. Especially if they still show up on radar. I'm sure it can't all be secret military tarffic:D

I think if they've been visiting for a while there is every reason why they haven't made contact with a paranoid race who would shoot first, ask questions afterwards. Our tv signals would show that being 'different' is often reason enough for violence.

Whats the protocol for spotting something unknown on the radar?
If you're a helpless animal in a huge jungle with no idea what kind of predator is out there, the last thing you want to do is shout/draw attention to yourself.
Now, imagine planet earth beaming all these radio waves from our tv masts out into space......to any species out there that has developed interstellar travel we're easy pickings.

Ive worked nights for the past 7 yrs and seen loads of shooting stars, all different colours and seen a fireball up in the northeast about 4 yrs ago and even saw some meteorites on weds night about 9.10 pm and all of them beautiful to watch but totally natural and fairly common if you are looking in the right direction, however about 5 yrs ago whilst working at Vauxhalls at ellesmere port I saw some lights in the sky which were acting anything other than natural. They looked like a couple of bright stars initially and then I thought they were the wing lights of an aircraft, John Lennon airport is just over the river mersey from the plant at Ellesmere port and Easyjet aircraft were always coming over the top of us, but they didnt seem to behave like an aircraft should, eventually after watching for a while they seemed to head directly towards my position, but instead of the wing lights widening as if they were getting closer they actually got closer together which would normally give the impression of going in the opposite direction. They then both turned at the same time and appeared to head over towards JLA but went behind one of the buildings and was lost to sight, I was in a truck heading for deeside and asked the security guard if an easyjet had just gone over the gatehouse towards the airport but he heard nothing. Anyway I mentioned this to my shift partner but told him to keep quiet about it, a couple of days later one of the other drivers came up to me and asked me directly what I saw on the night in question and before I had chance to answer he produced a local newspaper, cant remember what it was, but it had an article about the same lights I saw, apparently they are more common in that area than in some others, the thing is I dont know what it was that I saw, but I defo saw something. Just to add, I spent 10 yrs in the RAF and am also a qualified glider pilot so have a bit of understanding aerodynamics and aircraft handling but cant explain this.
I thought I saw one in 1990, it was at night over the Essex coast.
It turned out I wasn't the only one. It made the local news.
A week or so later the USAF said they'd scrambled a couple of stealth bombers out of Mildenhall or Lakenheath (forget which) en route to Kuwait.
I reckon Saddam might have seen a UFO in his lifetime :smt068

Once when I was a kid I watched a film on the movie channel, I was supposed to be asleep but wasn't. This film was from a handheld camera, bit like blairwitch, bit like cloverfield. There was family and friends at this house they were all at. They saw something land or something or other in a field near them, one guy got some sorts weird burn on his hand. The people who went, went back to the house, spoke about it and decided to leave, thing was the cars had no engines. They all went back in the house and the women and blokes were kissing the wrong partner. there was a little girl there who wanted to play cards, next thing you know the aliens have bust in through the back door and everyone is walking out. Thing is the camera is in the sink and is still recording. The thing that scared the shat out of me was the bit at the end, missing, if you see these people cntact this number.
Do I believe in them?...
Yep
I reckon there is a place like earth out there.
I think they,re here now, they ride pointy,s, its the only explantion
*sigh* Ill get me coat

The final picture presented to controllers is a synthetic mix of static map overlays, and target information. The targets are the result of considerable processing, plot extraction and corrolation. So basically, if it isn't an aircraft, a controller wont see it.
To see angels, you need to view the raw unprocessed primary returns - the kind of thing hollywood likes to pretend radar looks like. Most if not all angels can be explained, anomalous propagation (anaprop), sunspot activity, military activity etc etc.
To answer your question though, and we do get targets that stray into controlled airspace, controlled traffic is made aware and routed to avoid it, every effort is made to contact it, and it will be tracked to its destination; usually a small local airfield where the pilot will be traced, suitably bollocked and maybe invited to the control facility to get some appreciation.

If you turn the clever buttons off the screen is full of unexplained things, we've even seen the coast of Africa closing in from the south at sundown due to strange atmospheric conditions. Only once did we watch something curious, because there were two large targets moving in a linear fashion in our general direction at a low speed. They eventually became almost stationary then vanished. They were doubtful as aircraft as the didn't carry transponders, but since they didn't pose a hazard, even if they existed, thought little more of it.

To take a viewpoint from one of my fave movies:
If we are alone, then it's an awful waste of space.
I believe. But I won't just assign 'little green men' to anything I can't explain. There's still a hell of a lot we don't know as a species.
Well, short of any aliens actually popping up, saying hi and showing me 'round their ship, etc.

I think i believe. I cant see how there can be all those other planets and all that space and this planet be the only one with 'inteligent' life forms on it?!?
I have see lights in the sky that dart about in a non linear/star/satalite fashion and I cant explain it.
I have no idea. I would say yes I probably believe.
But if they can get so close why have they not popped in to say hello.

I wouldn't say it was too arrogant of us to assume we're the only ones out here, when you think about it, it's pretty much a fluke we're here in the first place. After all, a few more miles towards the sun and we'd all be incinnerated (sp) and a few more miles the other way and we'd freeze to death!
Yes there's thousands of stars and planets out there but it's not impossible to imagine that we are the only ones! However, it is pretty boring though.

Indeed tactcom7, Its all down to chance. But if the space people are right there are billions of galaxies and each gallaxy has million/billions of planets in it... Odd are good that there will be others. The chances are that they are SOOOOOO far away we will never know. I mean another galaxy is SOOO far away its stupid to imagine us ever comming into contact with each other. :(
Here is a bit of useless info BUT in startrek they are still in our galaxy :)
UFO = Unidentified Flying Object. I can only just recognise a EuroFighter when it's in the sky, so most things to me are Unidentified.
Aliens? Well, my dad is an official alien, and has paperwork to prove it! (he emmigrated to US).
Now, extraterrestial life? As posted above, we'd be pretty narrow minded (and arrogant) to think that life outside of Earth's atmosphere didn't exist, it's just a question of at what level life exists.
Certainly bacterial life exists somewhere, just we haven't found it yet (that I know of).
More complex life, quite possibly, and I'm open to the possibility. How do you define "life" anyway? Some crystals exhibit characteristics that could be interpreted as "life."
Lissa et al (those that believe), you may be interested enough to research the Nephilim. Research it in enough depth, and you'll link it to religion, and ET's.

I always wonder why people assume that there are just so many stars and planets out there,
Here's another useless fact for you, there are more available moves on a chess board than there are atoms in the universe....
