You want a roof-rack on that, to carry all the camping gear

Yes it was!
My respect!
Sweet the Murci not seen an LP640 in that colour in the UK. Did you get a good drive in it or was it a driving experience day?
I indirectly know the owner of the LP640 below and managed to get my dad a day driving it for a very reasonable price for his 50th. Awsome cars any Lambo.

I've never known power like it. It was a LP640 based at Thruxton.
My family bought the day out for my 30th Birthday.
Got to drive an RX-8, Porsche Cayman, the Lambo and then a Formula renault single seater.
The LP640 had paddle shifts which were brilliant, it just kept on pulling.
I had about 144 before running out of room in 6th Gear.
Amazing machine.:D:cool::cool:

I had that in third gear yesterday,:D but you were probably short shifting.
I'm suprised you were even in 6th gear at 144, it will do that in 3rd near redline :D:D Did they not let you give it full revs.
For a car like that what you really want is a coned out circuit at bruntingthorpe so you can make use of the 2 mile straight.
I had 179 out of a 360 spyder down the main straight at brunters, there wasnt much left in it. An old 580 lambo was pulling well past 190 and the LP640 has 60bhp more, is lighter and pulls alot harder. 200+ would be very easy for even an amature speeder.

Probably would do 144 in 3rd but I've never driven anything like it before so I wouldn't know. The fact was it got me to 144 quicker than I could blink.

So that means a Gixxer thou given some beans must be absolutly mental since its supposed to do it in acceleration. :D :smt118
Nice car... Still only a car though
A thousand SS will trounce one of these to 100 then the car will start catching very quickly and pass it by 150 then go all the way to 215mph.
If you put in a corner however :( the LP640 would have the edge by a fair bit.

Im not so sure there mate.
Gixxer 1000
0-60=~3seconds
0-100=~5.3 Seconds
0-180=~16 seconds
1/4 mile = 9.77 sec @ 145 MPH
LP640
0-60=~3.3Seconds
0-100=~8.1Seconds
0-160=~16.1Seconds
1/4 mile = 11.5 sec @136 MPH
So no unless the streight is about 5 miles long the car wont catch the bike not by a LONG way. Imagine the difference in distance covered.
I read Eve last year. They had a normal Murci (I know not the LP640...) a GT3 and a couple of other supercars/kit cars. They also had a stock K6 Gixxer thou and a cresent K6 Thou. The cresent creamed them all EASY around the track and absolutly demolished them on the streight bits. the stock only got beat by the turbo charged 1500cc Hyabusa powered Kitcar (cant remember the name) but it had all the wings and everything... SERIOUS piece of racing kit. In the end the stock Gixxer thou got beat by half a second... the super/hypercars were more than 5seconds behind the stock Gixxer .
This was a Car mag so fair play to them for publishing the beat up the cars got :)
Strange i was sure it was different.
5th gear also did a good one with leon haslam on a 1098 racing an f430, bike did win on this ocasion by a whisker but leon was wheeliing through corners and show boating the whole way round.

Indeed the cars only really get a big advantage from the contact patch in corners if they have LOTS of downforce and weigh a lot less than most road cars... So basically a Race car is the only one that will gets the benefit. 1.5 tonne is a lot of lard to pull about and throw about in a corner even with the fat tyre's.
Ive said before on here a few times... I've followed a Ferrari Spider along the local bypass and I easy stayed with it upto 120 *cough* at which point a roundabout would come up (one with no exists so a fast chicane type thing...) where I would have been able to do him if I he wasnt in the way... He pulled over at the end and said "fast car no" in some European accent, I said yea not bad and left... Shame he didnt realise it was a SV650 worth ?4000 :p
Indeed he probably was taking the mick on 5th gear. Wasnt it the one where tiff cheated by gunning it before they were supposed to? he he
What counts though is that DanDare had fun! Hope you did. :D maybe next time you can go out and ride a few mental bikes

Liz bought me a similar day out for my birthday a while back. Sounds like you had as much fun as I did.
