As some of you may know, a little while ago I was in a dilemma as to whether to take a new job or not.
Well, a couple of weeks ago I decided fuk it, do it!
So last week I handed in my notice and on the 3rd March, I start my new job as a lift engineer (Improver) for Kone.
This is my last week in a trade I have been in for the past 6 years and love with today being the last close (hence why I'm trawling the forums on my laptop while I'm meant to be working!).
My last shift is Sunday and then a week off before I start said job with less hours, more pay, better benefits and general better treatment from the company (I am gonna miss the fuggin about and the fighting though!!) as well as being able to see the wonderful g/f more regularly.
So far my brother, one of my colleagues and even my boss have asked about coming and working with me so it can't be bad!
Am a little nervous and apprehensive but I'm looking forward to it all the same.
Wish me luck.
That is all!
Sounds like your going to a better place, can't be bad less hours, more pay. More time on that bike and perhaps make room for another in the garage lol..
Good luck i'm sure you'll get on just fine..
Rich
No, Phil, don't do it. it'll be a disaster!!!!!
Only joking, Hun. Sounds like a damned good move to me:D

I was in your postion what just over a year ago now, I quit a job/industry I was trained in, moved to the city and started a new job, its hasn't been easy for me at all, but so worth it. But I have found anything worth while is not easy.
Good luck with you new job, when I got my job I bought a new bike. oh enjoy that week off as well, I went travelling before I started this job and you know what it will be along time before I get to that again!

Good for you Phil...theres only one way to find out if its the right thing - am sure you will make it a success.
After all, they say its better to regret something you have done rather than something you haven't....
Good for you for having the guts to go for it!
All the best.

This is true, but does it matter as long as it presses all the right buttons?
I started my "new job" on Monday. Feel a bit like a fish out of water again.

Already made plans for a new one before I'd made my decision, just waiting for my mate to pay me some money he owes me then I'll buy one!

Too late!!!

Yes but my area is more the south from Gloucestershire down, not including inside the M25, and even as far as Gurnesy. Sometimes have to travel further up the country but it's not the norm.
Good luck mate. Does this mean I'm going to have to stop not talking to you on the ferry because you won't be on it...:smt102:D
That depends, I wont have weekdays off ut I'll still do the TT's on the weekend!

Cheers Billy, but perhaps the bit highlighted is why I've found myself in many a situation I probably shouldn't be!!!
This is true, but does it matter as long as it presses all the right buttons?
Some of your jokes need a lift or at least a little improvement (my new job title being Improver!).

As our internet connection has gone at home, and that's where Phil will be, I shall answer this question to the best of my knowledge.....i dunno!!!!
I think it is fitting new lifts into new buildings aswel as maintaining old ones. Im sure he will correct me if im wrong!!!
Well done, im in the same boat, but the opposite.
Less money, more hours  What have i let myself in for.....
