To say I'm excited is an understatement :D After months of preparation and research the idea of having my own business has finally come true!!

I have setup the Ultimate Bags (http://www.ultimatebags.co.uk)

This is a site that will sell bags (obviously) from big brands to leather one off designs!! There are still a lot more brands to come onboard in the next 2 weeks and I hope all is going to go to plan!!!

If there is something that you like (or don't) on the site TELL ME and I can then look into it and if possible improve it.

Thanks

Moses

Weldone moses.

There is a thriving element of being your own boss and making your own dream and successes come true.

Hope it all goes well for you. Maybe you could design a SV bag? Id buy one as i have no motorcycle rucksack and dont want just a standard bag

Thanks :)) not entirely my own boss yet as I have not left my full time job, so I'm doing both hence why I am up at 6am :) But its worth it and maybe a year down the line I can be entirely my own boss

Not thought of the SV badge but if there is interested I could get one of the designers/manufacturers to make one for us and we could then put it on our existing bag?

Sounds like a plan? Are they weather proof?

600+
22-02-08, 08:03 AM
they will be in leather but just a badge not the entire bag......so the badge doesn't matter if its weather proof or not :) although being leather it will be tough enough

Our product range will grow a lot bigger in the next few weeks to cover more major brands but also bring you the best in quality leather and one off designs.

Change that 'but' to an 'and', it's grammar innit?

Come to think of it that whole 'Welcome' paragraph could do with a damn good re-write, polish up and chamfer. You never get a second chance to make a good first impression.

See going out on your own by the way? Much respect. :notworthy:

I'll change that now ;) Cheers for spotting it

Not very good with promotional writing and obviously with english not being my native language things get a bit more tricky

Congratulations mate, the site looks very good. I appreciate there is a lack of items on there at the minute but those that are on there look well layed out etc. Are you going to be selling rizla suzuki bags and other race teams stuff?

at the moment I don't think I will be able to accommodate that market. IT is very niche as you can appreciate. But it is definitely something I can look into for the near future

thnx for the wishes:) It is a good idea what you're saying I'll look into it in terms of cost from a developers point of view.........cause at the moment any spare cash goes into stock

bleuto - just to clarify - for a bikers bag I cannot at this stage make a custom bag that will be of good quality to sustain biking use.

What I CAN do is a leather SV650 badge to go on a bag

Well done, mate! Seeing as I am a grammar nazi, I would very much like to see "one off designs" hyphenated to "one-off designs" as it should be. ;) Good luck!

Also, I understand your excitement with the site, but sadly adding loads of emoticons and ":))))" makes it look amateur I reckon. Best to leave it ultra professional and keep your excitement to yourself :)

Also, your quicksearch bit doesn't seem to work for me, it flashes up results but then they disappear almost immediately and I can't see them. I am using fully up-to-date IE if it helps.

EDIT: seems to work better now, but doesn't like you typing much when it is searching

When clicking on a bag, its larger picture is stretched and pixelated

anyone in particular? can you post a link to the page please?

also what browser are you using and resolution?

in the about section "Welcome to Ultimate Bags, the best online store with the trendiest bag designs.....from well known brands to one off designs. Leather or textile the choice is yours!!" Well-known also needs a hyphen. :)

EDIT: And indeed the one-off again!

EDIT EDIT: In fact, any one-offs on your whole site should be hyphenated, I keep seeing more :)

Case logic all fine. All Act2 ones are stretched vertically. I am using internet explorer latest version and 1280x1024 res :)

600+
22-02-08, 01:30 PM
yes indeed - will have to photoshop them even more i guess!

some suppliers don't provide much on the marketing side

Warthog
22-02-08, 01:33 PM
Their thumbnails are fine, are you sure you are just not overriding their dimensions on the larger page with your webcode that is set for the case logic dimensions?

600+
22-02-08, 01:36 PM
all pics need to be 250x250 pixels really so maybe the original pics were smaller

Warthog
22-02-08, 01:37 PM
yeah, so that'll be the code trying to stretch the act2 pictures to be 250 pixels in height when they are not. You should be able to have code there that does not artificaially speicify the height of the picture, if you remove the coding it should just display as normal I think.

I shall speak to the company that designed it for me and get them to look into that

thnx for the suggestions!!

Could someone give me a hand with photoshop

Basic resizing question really - when I resize photos they become full of pixels etc and don't look nice

Warthog
24-02-08, 03:34 PM
I can help with photoshop. The rule of thumb though is you can shrink and not get pixellated, but if you try to enlarge anything it will get pixelated if it is not good quality. What do you want to do, and PM me the file if you want me to help :).

Nice site! looks pretty swish, most points have been made already, I've got a stock one to raise though, Get some Kipling bags on there, they seem to sell like hot cakes (at least to my better half anyway!)
anyhow, best of luck, hope it takes off.
