How many links in a chain?

Hi all, just recieved my new Tsubaki 520 chain from B&C.
Ive just tried fitting i9t but it is way too long. I counted my old chain and it had 108 links, whereas this one has 120!!!
Is this the right chain or is it just a case of removing 12 links??

I was just looking at the chains on there. It seems that the 'race use' chains are supplied in 120 links and the standard chains are 108. I think you are right, they are just assuming you will size it to suit. You sometimes find that you need extra links especially when you run an oversized rear sprocket.

Naked SV has 110 links methinks so it'as deffo too long. Grind a pin and use your chain tool to remove the extra links...

Cheers guys. Thought as much but wasnt sure if i was missing something obvious. Was just fretting a little as if it was the wrong one id be screwed as im at Brands on Sunday.

Sorted, just knocked out 12 of the links and hey presto, a perfect fit. Still loads of adjustment left in the chain. Cheers.:cool:

Naked SV come with 110 link chains.
S models come with 108 links.

And 520 chains come with 120 links so you can "cut to size". A worthy modification to a minitwin as it saves weight and increases power slightly (less transmission loss). Both are like gold dust with the reg's we run!
