Right Guys and Gals
Here it is.... The long awaited firm location for this years AR.

http://www.halfwaycaravanpark.com

I have spoken to the owners of the campsite and they are delighted we would like to make use of their Rallie Site for the weekend.
This is the score

The Costs
?7.00 per night for a single Man Tent
?10.00 per night for a Two Man Tent
?20.00 per night for a Four man tent
IMPORTANT EDIT: if you have a two man tent it costs 10.00 per night for the pitch and an additional 3.00 for the second person.
If you have a four man tent it costs 20.00 per night for the pitch and then 3.00 each per night per extra person. I am sorry i didnt make this clear at the start but i have only just been told Sorry
The owners of the site have said anything Larger will have to be looked at dependant on the space it takes up on the day.

How To Book
All you need to do to book is to vote on this poll. The poll is designd for us to be able to give the campsite a guide of numbers of people Camping. No need to vote if you are just coming for an evening to socialise and not camping. You can book up right up to the day before so.....
PLEASE DO NOT VOTE UNTIL YOU ARE SURE YOU ARE GOING TO ATTEND
It will be a public poll so we can all see who is going. There are four options.
Option 1.= 1 Man tent Just for one night
Option 2 = 1 Man tent for two nights
Option 3 = 2 Man tent for one night
Option 4 = 2 Man tent for two nights
Option 5 = 4 Man tent for one night
Option 6 = 4 Man tent for two nights
If you have a camper van or larger tent please PM me so i can get you a price for direct from the campsite.
The owners of the site have asked me to take the bookings as they dont want to be bombarded with phone calls etc

How Do I Pay
When you arrive at the site you will be met by me or a member of the commitee. They will show you where our area is and take your money from you then. Once everybody has arrived and paid we will give a lump sum to the site owners

On Site Facilities
We have use off the shower and toilet blocks. Showers are run on a token basis. The tokens are issued to the comittee and we can hand them to you. he tokens cost 50p each
There is a pub right next door so beer can be drunk and food comsumed. The pub also has a few B&B rooms for those who do not wish to camp. Please contact the pub directly

http://www.halfwayhouseinn.net/ (http://www.halfwayhouseinn.net/)

Local Area
Theres no shop on site, but Yeovil itself is 10 minutes away and it has a Tesco, an ASDA and a Morrisions so theres no shortage of shops for you to stock up on beer and food etc.

Much as I'd like to show my support, it'd be a bit premature at the moment, however once I've mastered walking, then riding, then riding any distance, then provided the event hasn't passed I'll be there.

if by that time I can also manage a further ride following the one down, I may do the rideout itself, but as said a long way to go yet.

Cheers Mark.

I WILL be attending. I will be bringing a 4 man tent but there is no option bigger than a two man. Does that mean x 2 2 man tent :?:

Oh also, I'll probably be camping Friday, Sat & Sun night (possibly)

Mark, if you can ride see you down there, if you can't ride but will be attending, you already have transport.

For all the TV and Soho guys, arrangements will be made in advance to pick up all your camping gear and transport it down if you so wish. Further details to follow.

The costs ie ?7.00 for a one man tent assumes only one person will be in the tent and ?10.00 for a two man tent assumes 2 persons.
I am going to call the site in a moment (after 11 their office housrs) to clarify larger tents and camper van costs and i will add them to the poll and the first post.

Any chance of a google map type thingie of exactly where we will be going?

Also, maybe a daft question, but have you told the pub to expect a large group of hungry and thirsty bikers that weekend?

Is this still an option?

Yes the rideout route is the same as before. I havent published details as TBH I have a small part of it that needs refining, and also with the campsite changing I need to work out a route back to the campsite / end point that works a little better than it does now.

I dont want to publish it till its finished otherwise it may lead to confusion if or when I have to change things.

Nobody needs to worry nobody is going to get lost or left behind, The route will be marked by a marker team than will know the route etc etc.

The campsite is in the grounds of the pub, Viper has spoken to the landlord and they are expecting us so I dont see any problems there.

IMHO The Marque is out, they are expensive to hire, and it'll mean us trying to cover our costs again, and that just makes life more complicated.

As for the Army tents, I'm not sure if we can get them.

Personally I think we should keep things simple, the site has everything we need, if it rains we can go in the pub. If peeps wanna bring their own gazeebo or stuff they bought from last year then I reckon we should just go with that, we can all muck in together rather than trying to pre organise stuff.

Hi matey.
I have asked the site about this. We would be charged for a marquee/big tent but if we were to put of some gazeebo type things then we would not have to pay for that.

If anyone driving can take them for me then that's a bonus.

Edit: I've opted 1 man tent for 2 nights though I'm not sure which tent i'll be bringing. Is it ok to upgrade if I need to nearer the time? Either way it'll just be me on my own.

If you have not looked at the first post since 23/02/2007 at 2.05pm please look again.
I have had to edit the pricing structure do to me not reading properly

The costs are worked out as follows

1 man tent = £7.00 per night
2 man tent = £10.00 per night plus £3.00 per night for the second person
4 man tent = £20.00 per night plus £3.00 per night for the second, third and forth person.

If you have a 2 man tent and its just you the cost will be £10.00 per night.
if you have a 4 man tent and its just two of you it will be £20.00 per night plus £3.00 per night for the second person and so on.

I hope ths clarifies the costings. Please accept my apologies for having to update it now.

not really up to date with this, but wasn't your accident back in september some time? busted leg/arm and some internal stuff right?

how's it all going? currently I'm in the same boat and at the minute cn't even walk (leg in fixed straight brace), but I'd say to you it's sometime away, see how it goes, a Positive mental attitude and determination, can truely do wonders, I'm hoping I can ride there admittedly not the same distance as yourself, but still something to aim at.

why not say it seems unlikely but you'll work towards it and see how it goes, can't hurt and costs nothing :smt102.

Yeah it only had one side that was waterproof... Unfortunately it was the base, so let water in the top, but not out again. I almost drowned Saturday night and my phone did drown.

Yeah it was back in september, I rear ended a combine harvester when it was stationary just after a blind corner. Like you say I had a broken arm, dislocated elbow, broken femurs, damaged hamstring, bruised liver, other bruising and internal bleeding. Pinned and plated in the arm, full rod and bolts in the leg. Worst bit was the liver, no booze for 3 months! You shoulda seen the other guy.. (My bike's rear cylinder looked intact, thats about it! But I scratched a rear tyre of the combine, Score!)

Arm has made a 97% recovery (I was told to only expect 90%, so am quite happy. They said they could get it to 100% recovery and less discomfort, but would take another operation, I have a few weeks to decide)
I got off crutches more or less a month ago, but can't walk too far just yet. And its more of a hobble and limp at times, you know too well what its like. Trying to get back to normal life, but I'm still suffering from slight short term memory loss, especially if I get stressed or jumpy. Been given the year off uni, but I'm still going to one or 2 modules anyway to keep me semi-sane, I'm just not technically there.

I hope your recovery is going well, I remember you were having trouble towards the end of the rideout last year. And to be honest after finding out what had happend I thought you were either truely brave or completely nuts for coming. But you did it and copped a lot better than some (including me, who couldn't even find a tent big enough for my luggage, lol).

I'm trying to keep positive, but on the other hand its a long distance for my little 1.1 to carry me. With the bike I wasn't planning on having a bike this year anyway due to being a student, (hence why I sold it the day before my accident!) I couldn't really afford to keep it running. I was considering getting a cheaper one, but that was before my accident. I still want to get one again, I really just don't trust myself right now. Plus the dvla say that my bike insurance will be invalid until the hospital gives me the all clear, although my car is unaffected.

I could always fly down and hitch the rest of the way tho :D, otherwise it's unlikely that I'll manage the distance no matter how much I want to.

Cheers, Marius

well in there, sounds like you're making cracking progress.

well I sort of understand where you're coming from although I did find it of great help to have a goal to aim for, I was going to make last years come hell or high water, I looked at everything, even train or coach, seriously.

OK realistically it may not be something you can manage, but you've got time perhaps that outlook will change over the coming months, and youknow the atmosphear at the last AR, IT WAS GREAT!, if I make it this year it very well maybe all I'm able to do, so will be sitting out the actual rideout itself, so you'd have some company :D.

Leave your options open, you never know, some one maybe coming down from up contry somewhere and possibly offer you a lift so you only have to drive to them :smt102.

If you want to go I'd like to think the guys & girls on here will do whatever they can to make it happen, it's what makes this place special after all.

Cheers Mark.

PING: 1 man tent! remember me! Learn from my mistake, you need a 2 man tent just for luggage! (preferably waterproof)
<<snip>>
Luggage...?

I'll be bringing the absolute bare essentials but good call though. Wish I could bring the Deathstar. *sigh* Anyone wanna drive instead of bike and shift a LOAD of stuff for me so I can ride my bike there and still still have all my home comforts?

That's when I thought it had to do with amount of people in the tent rather than the size of the tent. I have a three man tent (or one-Bear tent...)

We're going in our own field which is seperate to rest of the site. They hold bike rallies quite regularly they know what to expect. Nothing to worry about.
