If you have problems getting it up when you arrive, come and find me and with a couple of shakes, slipping poles into the correct holes, a wiggle and possibly a bang, you will have an erection you can be proud of and your girlfriend will happily admire for the whole weekend, you never know, she may even use it in case she becomes damp!

I am of course just offering help with putting tents up. What did YOU think I meant?

I managed to get mine up myself, but then again... It was only a small erection, and started to leak as soon as it was up.

I want to try it, just for a laugh really.

I'll put it on my list of things to do before I die.

I got that excited last night about the AR08 that i decided to get it out of it's packaging and unravel it across the lounge floor, i was quite surprised how large it looked even in it's flacid state, unfortunately due to the given area i couldn't get it fully erect as the ground was too hard to hammer anything in ;)

So Bear's going to be going round the AR giving all the blokes advice and help with pitching a tent?

get yourself half a dozen bricks heavy things and you can simulate putting most tents up :)

Have "pitched" my tents on paving slaps that way before - wouldnt want to sleep in them tho

You need to be really careful. I tried this once and my pole snapped. I had to bandage it with tape, which made it very difficult to get it though the hole.

I've never erected a tent on my own before. Maria would be jolly pleased if I could get one up for us to use at night.

im quite good at getting it erect but sods law that its always soggy in the morning and sometimes it leaks if i lay to far to one side! i have tried to combat this problem but its harder when there are several people sleeping next to me, although being in the middle you dont get as wet but the people either side get very wet and can squeeze you resulting in their fluids leaking onto you and making you wet aswell. all in all its fun when its erect but when flacid its a rather big heavy lump to carry around and i can't always be bothered to roll it up and put it away, i have been known to leave the pole in the hole due to a lack of being bothered.

I can get it up ok given a bit of time and encouragement, but I've been known to roll over in my sleep and bend it very near to the point of fracture. I sometimes have a problem getting inside if I've had a few drinks and end up going in an alternative entrance. A good tip I've heard of when erecting a tent is to hold the peg near the base while hammering it in, first with gentle taps and then really giving it some until it's rock solid and won't fall out of it's own accord. Alternatively there is the method of finding a hole that's already had a peg in it when it usually slips in no problem with minimal effort. This method works especially well if the ground is moist and there's not too much grass which assists in finding the hole.
:safe:

P.S. The quicker it goes up the quicker it goes down.

Teachers assisting in erections of poles I'm up for that, I just worry about getting my fingers trapped inbetween poles when you snap them together to make the pole longer as I'll be needing my fingers/hands to do some tossing and turning of meat later that night or the night after

At last years AR I was one of the first to arrive and offered my services in tent pitching, it could be said I helped several ORG. members with their erections.Fnaar fnaar

The forum deviants might appreciate the name on the bakery van that I saw on the North Circular this morning - "Maison du Pain" (http://www.maisondupain.com). It had me grinning for most of my journey to work.
