Hmm,

Whilst checking the brakes (front are now good - thing it was a sticking piston from non use over the last few months; but will still get the fluid replaced over the next few weeks), I also noticed the chain was *way* too lose.

Tightended this up to moving about 1.5" (1" with my other half sitting on the bike).

Now comes the tricky part... How tight should the axel be. I have no torque wrench so should it simply be FT (not moving when my 75ish KG of weight is on the end of the bar used to tighten it? Or should I not use it 'till I can check the torque full stop...

TIA,
Stu

Depends on how ling your bar is.

When away on long trips adjusting the chain on the bike I do it up tight with a 20ish cm long spanner, not all my weight though, I think that may be a bit much.

Thanks for that. That's what it's adjusted to at the moment. Just about to go for a short, slow test run...

And will be buying a torque wrench in the coming weeks :)

According to my Owners Manual ( K2 ) the torque should be:
65 N-m ( 6.5 kgf-m )

FT is too tight if your bar is owt over a foot
