Nah she's my baby, got the softest fur ever, loves howling to you,the white one Kia is actually the oldest out the three but cause she's smaller everyone thinks she's the youngest.

they're a really beautiful trio. How do they all get on as a pack? i'm having problems with heirachy at the moment. A pair of naughty doggies. Usually so well behaved

how many you got?-i've got another but she stays at mums because she's so anti social-if you've got more than one you'll need to let them sort it out themselves, its hard watching them scrap but you need to let them-bear in mind that its a continual thing where they'll challenge each other-best thing is for you to know how there feeling and what kind of mood there in by there body language, that way you can seperate them for a while if you need to -i study them for hours when i'm off and its amazing the things you pick up from them-i can know tell who's in a good mood or who's getting on with who but it just takes time-only thing you need to be sure of is that your the pack leader,if you get challenged chomp on an ear-it works.

They usually get on well. Shes 9, hes 18 months. He can't decide if he wants to be boss or not, and as soon as theres so much as a crumb on the floor, shes asserting herself by really going at him. So much so, its hard to get them apart and lately has cost me in vets bills, from nasty holes in legs, ears and faces. Its a once in a blue moon thing. They both know I'm boss, but can't decide between each other. I'm doing all the usual things like feeding them seperate, one before the other, walking before them in a house, etc. I really think its down to her getting cantankerous in her old age, and perhaps worrying he's taking over, as he is a little looney still( as puppies are)

Be the age gap-he's basically at puberty and like us at that stage will challenge authority-she's just letting him know that in her mind she's the boss, mine are the same with crumbs-the brown one is the youngest but when it comes to food he'll fight forever-if you struggle to seperate them when there fighting get a hand held water pistol and scoosh them-they hate it and will soon relise that they'll get a soaking when they fight.

hmmm tried that with a bucket of water.......they carried on regardless, I'm going to rattle the tin of pennies at them next, it works for a lot of unwanted habits with them. They hate the noise. As soon as they see it they sit down and behave. So I'm hoping it may help if they start scrapping. Some folk may not like the idea, but, if it works....

what beautiful dogs you have!! lovely colouring, I especially like the first one, sort of a rusty brown. They do look right at home in the white stuff :D and so they should. Wonder if there are huskies actually scared of snow?

Like the dogs. Can you not take their pack instinct away from them? Are they not like normal dogs?

nope-once any dog gets together with another and theres no human interaction the natural instinct kicks in and it doesn't matter what you do-if you watch stray dogs when there running around and then compare them to a pack of wolves in the wild the body language and the movements are exactly the same-i'm getting geeky now:smt075

So if you had brought them up to be tame they wouldnt be pack animals right? Unless you threw them outside... maybe?

no-when there left to there own devices for a short while ,even when they've been brought up "domesticated" they will revert back to there natural pack instincts (until you the leader return)-if you've got a few dogs you'll be able to see after watching them for a while who has what position in the group. If you get the chance watch the wolfman documentray when it re-runs on sky-fantastic insight into animal behaviour and interaction with humans. The wife has a cat and all the dogs are ok with him on there own, but as soon as there's more than one dog its a different story and they need watching-its just there instincts when there around other dogs.

I see. Never had any major issues when we had a pair of learchers... but they are so placid I dont think they could be bothered fighting over stuff. One of them barked at the other when he got her bed position. Had to always go down and shut her up. So anoying at 2AM.

Now we only have the bloke (ladie got old, 16 Years!!!), He hates to be left alone now, big puff. :smt043

unfortunatley I have some odd dogs. Terrier x lurcher and staff x whippet. I'm lucky ive had the latter since pup, as they can be quite horrid with others if you get later in life apparently. My friend has a whole brood of greyhounds, staff x whippets, salukis x's. So I have a general idea what to look for. But hes a big poof, its the older bitch I have problems with, shes getting to be a lot of a bully.....and hes much bigger and weightier than her.

I am top dog in their eyes, followed by the cats. She prefers men to listen to, bob prefers me and won't do anything for my otherhalf when he's here...lol.

Dogs they really are funny........but not when they fighting between themselves

Cracking looking pack of dogs there, I bet they love the colder spells.

I remember watching a program about sled dogs, one of the owner said that they prefer to run at night, because if they run all day they get too hot! In well sub zero conditions!

I bet it's a fair task keeping them well exercised.

Got it in one!! with our boy, a four mile walk just wont cut it, a four mile run with him pulling me on the rig will tire him out for a couple of hours but then he'll want to play so we have to give him plenty of mental stimulation (treat balls and puzzle toys, and even practicing our obedience) to get him thinking as that is as good as a 30 minute walk to him.

From what i have seen though, the huskies are far worse for this... a 4 mile run isn't enough for some of them and they are still bouncing about when they get back and you can see them all jumping around on their stake out lines!!!

For the time being i'll stick with Malamutes!! still difficult at times and incredibly stuborn but far less bouncy!!

beautiful dogs husky. woman round the corner has a couple and walks for miles with a lead that she ties round her waist. Watched her sliding down the hill in the snow the other day, hoping she would fall on her nose and be dragged for miles.

talking of pack animals fighting. my daughter has 2 gerbils. One killed the other and ate its hands (so it couldnt fight back maybe) and its face - nasty wee beast.
