Another great guitarist bites the dust:

I really should buy "See the Light" on CD to replace my ancient cassette tape.

I'm in on that; SRV is awesome, very difficult to play (IMO) on guitar though

Saw him play in Berlin, must have been in 89. Played a brilliant set. Will be sadly missed. :smt035

Aw, I really liked Jeff Healey, his version of "While my guitar gently weeps" was good. Not had a lot of luck in his life but made a lot with it despite.

A real shame- I got See The Light years ago- a great album by a great guitarist and singer. Another sad, tragic loss in a world where music is constantly being sanitized.

Mentioning SRV- I got the Live at El Mocambo DVD last week- stunning stuff. Simply stunning.

Absolutely awesome :notworthy:

These are also superb - Confidence Man (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6MevNeiO4Zk) and While My Guitar Gently Weeps (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJh3KaIKDAw)

(though I still think that I prefer Clapton's original solo on 'While My Guitar...')

+1 you can see the passion in people when they play, thats what makes a difference between the crap that is put out now, thats skill and passion there and I wish I could do that!

RIP Jeff.

I saw him and his band a few times many years ago. Stunning gigs. Time to dig out the old CDs.

It's all in the upstroke ;)

Off beat upstroke rakeing on strings muted with your fretting hand, whist playing a moving bass line on the down stroke. Easy right...;)

Pride and Joy is great fun to play though, espically in guitar shops when you just crank up the amps like you can't do at home...
