Ok, as the title says, trying to organise a rideout weather dependant for that weekend. Please vote in the poll whether you prefer Sat or Sun or whether you cant make it. Please only post Sat or Sun if you can attend.

Having done the Catherine Wheel rideout last weekend, I open the floor to suggestions of where people would like to go. Personally I thought it might be an idea to hit the east coast however if people want to suggest otherwise then please do so.

Up for east coast & moors, Whitby, Scarborough, Brid? a touch of the Helmsley TT.

Could use Thirsk as a central(ish) starting point, just 10 mins off the A1

I'm up for either day depending on if any booking come in before then. Weekend is free both days so far.

Sounds like a good route too.

Voted Sunday but can do either. East coast sounds good to me. Did a spot of Helmsley TT a couple of weeks ago in frost....eeeeeekkkk. Lets hope it's a bit warmer!

Having missed a couple I'm well up for this one chaps.

Cheers

Well im working saturday night so finish at 8AM sunday. I should be ok to come I think, wont be too tired and depending where we are meeting and going then I might be able to get my head down before I set off.

E coust sounds good to me Tim. I need to find more roads. ATM I just use the Scarborough rollercoaster road. :D

was just thinking that if those coming from Manchester way - Dave/Ryan/Si etc, then maybe us from the North East start the rideout early, say 8:30, have a ride along Helmsley TT, towards York and then onto Squires. Meet the southern lot at Squires. Have a cup of tea there, before moving on towards Scarboro/Brid depending on where people want to go/route. After that it could be a judgement call on where we go depending on weather either to go upto Whitby, or back across to Pickering/Helmsley/Thirsk, wave off the southern lot and then back up Northallerton/Yarm for northern bunch.

What you all think?

Checking route, Squires to Brid/Scarbro/Pickering/Helmsley is *only* 119miles which is about 20 miles more than the Catherine Wheel. Thats going the easiest way, however that could be a tad boring and Im sure others might have some good roads between those points.

Round trip for Northerners from Wolviston services looks to be about 220 miles folks.

I voted Sunday too, but can currently make either day. Heading right out to the east coast is maybe a little far for a fun day for me, but I'm certainly up for something...

1) I doubt that the hole across my drive will be covered by then.
2) To Damn far.
3) Don't want to ride with you smelly lot anyway.

OK, it is only that Richie thats a bit stinky

Edit :- and Tim is far too colourfull in his YMCA waterproufs... to be taken seriously.

Just realised that Sunday is the Australian round of the new F1 season so I'll be pretty knackered on the Sunday, so I change my vote to the Sat.

I fancy an early start so will probably blast up the A1 from Leeds and meet the Northern lot (does that make me a Southerner - :() enroute to Squires. Thirsk maybe?? I need to get my map out....

Either day would be good for me and I don't mind setting out early if it means a better ride.

I've not had chance to do the East coast yet, so it should be good (with bike cam too).

So has anything been firmed up yet? Where we meeting/what time/what day?

Graeme you're always working! If its every other weekend you're working, you might even miss the next one :(

Weather dependant, both days may actually be available, and as such it might be an idea of who can do the East coast and who cant and on which day they can make it. That way, for those that cant do East Coast and fancy riding around the Dales instead, we could choose one day for them, and for the other day make it the East coast for those that can manage it. Comprende??

Just looked across thread and for those that have voted so far, it appears those most willing and most accommodated to ride across the East coast, Sunday is the better day. For those who are struggling to get across as far as that, Saturday looks like their option.

How about

Saturday
Rideout more central e.g Kettlewell, Devils Bridge Etc

Sunday:
East Coast starting at Thirsk for the ride down across to Helmsley, to Pickering and over to Scarboro and Whitby.

That way, all can be accommodated and those wishing to do both days can do so?

How about Sunday:

We could incoporate the TT route into Sunday either on the way out (reversing the Whitby/Scarborough order or going Thirsk Northallerton-Stokesley-TT-Helmsley) or on the way back from Scarborough. It needs to be in there somewhere though, even if not taken at speed.

I might make Saturday too, but I've a free black tie do Friday evening and will be aiming to "benefit" as much as possible from what I'm hoping is going to be free booze, so I may be a little too delicate in the morning.

Shall we agree that the Sunday ride meets at Thirsk market square 10 am for a 10.30am departure. Exact route can be agreed nearer the time.

As for the Saturday run, I think that's more for the westerners to agree, a start point combined with a lunch destination/time may be a good idea, some of us eastern lot could may be then meet you half way round or something.

Its basically Pickering to Thirsk along the A170. Or atleast i think it is... Pretty easy to find your way to thirsk id have thought. If you are along my route I dont mind picking you up. Im going from RAF fylingdales at about 9am, all being well.

Dont worry about being a traitor, I dont have an SV on the road atm either...

No idea on the forecast yet, might be better to look at that tomorrow afternoon as they havent had it too good these last few weeks.

Basically, me & Tim had a think about a couple of routes:

Thirsk-Stokesley-Helmsley-Pickering-Whitby/Scarborough (or Scarboro/Whitby if you prefer)

or sunshine dependant (and a fairly quick group)

Thirsk-Helmsley-Stokesley-Guisborough-Castleton-Pickering Scarborough/Whitby.

Yep back too. Had a good run today, 230 miles in all. Just washed the salt off and gave the bike a very liberal coating of WD40.

Thanks all for another good day out and;

Richie - Cheers for the photos.

Nick - Thanks to your old fella for finding us a great ride home without the monotony of the A64.

NP mate. Quite welcome.

Sorry I dint say much when we was on the round about going onto the A64... I needed to tell my old man about my clutch problems... You probably hear me reving it as we were stopping, that was to make the gear lever enguage. Sigh.

Fab ride!

Got back suffering from Hypothermia. The last 20 miles were done with me locked solid in one position. I'm still thawing out in front of the fire now, two hours later.

Note to self: Get a better screen, don't say "Oh, I don't need my Nech tube today" again and GET SOME BLOODY WEIGHT OFF YOU FAT PIG! :)

The photos have prompted me to either 1) take up smoking again or 2) get the three and a half stones off ASAP!

Sorry to hear about your clutch Nick. Might as well sell it instead of fixing it... to me... cheap! :D Quite possibly the most glorious sounding bike in the universe! It was rattling my visor when you were stopped and I was behind you!

Loved it. hopefully I'll be out next weekend.

Glad you liked it. Makes me happy.

Ill just have to bleed it again... Not easy either :( Only did it about 2k miles ago . Hope its no biggie. Maybe new master cylinder and lines needed... eventually to lose the problem perminently.
