...have been invited to stay in a friend's apartment for a week in mid-August. Not been before. Can anyone please advise on how hot it's likely to be? 30C I can cope with, 40C is a different matter...:sunny:

Parents have a place in spain...and in marbella it can get up to 40 that time of year, sometimes creeps to 41/42.

Chances are it will be around 35-38 possibly hit 40, obviously depends on the weather, if it rains...damn will it rain.

I'd go though, could even rent a bike? I would when I go to spain this year but i'm too young for rentals :(

About the same as Spain, 28-33, 35 is a really hot day I'd reckon. Being an island you get a nice breeze too. Rent a bike, enduro or trailie, excellent roads across he mountainous centre of the island.

That sounds very pleasant. Mrs doesn't do very hot, so that sounds good.

*shudders at the thought of another road like the one from Marbella to Ronda*

It was 105 (which is 40) once when I was in Mallorca, but that was the hotest in a hundred years so more like 35.

There's a water park near Palma you must go there it's brill and a good way of keeping cool:cool: I think it was callled Weston water park! there's a vertical drop slide there that's the biggest in Euope! Scary and you have to remove your trunks from up your bum after going on it;)

What bloody verge!!! 400m drop:smt104 I was with Peter H. He made it look so easy, carving graceful arcs, and for the first time ever on a motorcycle I couldn't wait to get off. I hated it:(

The 6 inch strip of dirt between you and the drop! :? Was a bit scary, but would love to go up there on a bike. (possibly on a weekend when there are no trucks though!)

Yeah any of the Arabian and Middle East countries are well hot. Iraq is a bit warm as well. Especially when your truck breaks down on convoy and you have to sit around in the midday sun with full body armour and helmet on!

Not quite as enjoyable as being able to cool off in the pool, although the RAF had a pool back in the accommodation area.

Ed Majorca is more likely to be up to mid 30? as peeps have said. Not altogether unusual for a torrential downpour to occur mid August either in truth. I love Majorca but too small for me to consider as opposed to here in Marbella.

Portals Nous is the new jet setting boat harbour of Majorca and good to go people watching.

A lovely slow shelving beach is avilable in Alcudia and a worthwhile day trip is the place where George Sands lived....ooops Ed it is in the mountains! But very interesting.

Glad to see you still retain fond memories of our little jaunt on the Ronda Road! Good man!:p:riding:
