Hi All.
In an earlier posting I stated it was safe to use pure silicon grease on brake seals. I would like to retract this statement.
Only ever use rubber grease.
It turns out that silicon is ok for some brake seals but not others. It depends on what rubber compund they are made from. Likewise DOT 5 brake fluid, which is silicon based, cannot be used in all braking systems.
Play safe and don't use silicon grease.
