What does Biker Heaven mean ? Lessee...
1 - Must be near to as many major racetracks as possible - in the UK that would be Brands, Silverstone, Donington, Oulton, Cadwell, Mallory, Snetterton...
2 - Nearish to London (or a major city) for work - say an hour away- and near to a station for the Mrs
3- Near to some nice roads
4 - Decent place to live - ie not Warrington where Swellhead and his mates run riot every night, beating up ladies cos they refused to give him a fag:mad:
5 - Decent property prices - i know this is hard within the hour to London circle, but where a few bedrooms, a garden and a garage for £200kish is possible

Course, Biker Heaven isnt necesarily in the UK, i guess so long as you can change the names of the tracks, the rest could apply in Italy, Spain, France or USA.?;)

SO where is it - im looking at Stamford, sort of Northants way, but whether that would qualify as "heaven" is ....debatable ? Is this the area the org er who listed all the tracks being 1hr, 1.5 hrs, 2 hrs away lives?

Watford ?

Mid-Bedfordshire, right where I live. Got great twisty roads on my doorstep, it's 5 miles from the M1 and 9 miles from the A1 so major road links are to hand, it's on a rail mainline into London, or you can get into the heart of the West End by bike in less than an hour.

Cadwell is 2 1/2 hours away, Silverstone 35 minutes, Brands 1 1/2 hours, Oulton 3 hours, Mallory 1 hour, Donington 1 1/2 hours, Rockingham 45 minutes. There's a few local MX clubs, and also a 'pay as you go' MX track to go playing on if you don't race about 20 minutes from here.

Housing is in the affordable bracket, a decent 3 bed semi with garage is still under 180K

Lets talk at Sliverstone Lozzo !

Anyone beat that ? Im guessing Pedro Pedroso will give it the Viva Espana - and lets face it - everyone in London who suffered like me in the rain and traffic this rush hour - they do have the weather !:flower:

Rugby:-D

When I first met Pete he was living in Surrey. When he moved up here he couldn't believe the roads were so good and so quiet.

We're a couple of miles from Junction 1 of the M1, the M45 and M6 are no more than 10 mins away. We have Mallory and Silverstone almost on our doorstep, and Rugby is on the main line route for both north and south train-wise.

Best of all though, a couple of minutes out of Rugby in any direction and you're on great roads:-D

perhaps I see this in a slightly different way, it isn't any one place, but a feeling, a good run down the old kent rd threw rush hour traffic, a sunny sunday in june out on the back roads of surrey, a crisp bright morning blast up the motorway in december, and alpine switch back on holiday, going over a dune on that hire bike, blasting threw a long tunnel? catch my drift here :smt102

OK it's just me then

Cheers Mark.

Where is biker heaven - hmmm - just the other side of the car/tree/barrier that hits you.

But on a lighter note - I'm with Mark - heaven's in my head...

... along with a few other strange things.

Biking heaven to me can be a new and undiscovered but very technical road.

+1 for Mark's POV. My best times on a bike are too disparate (both geographically and in terms of time/type of riding) to all occur in any one place. The other thing is you tend to take stuff on your doorstep for granted, it's when you see it as a tourist it blows you away. I know someone who lives on a hill with the 2nd best view I've ever seen, but she doesn't think it's anything special because she grew up there. Same with riding; I know a couple of lads who live near tail of the dragon, to them it's just irritating that their local road is full of k****ers crashing their fast cars and bikes and hence drawing heavy police presence. Many outsiders however, would describe it as biking heaven.

Bike Heaven? My house, end of discussion.

(those that visit will agree)

Ace roads on the doorstep (in fact the lane comes out B5105 - N. Wales TT)
Oulton Park 45 mins and new Anglesey track an hour or so(?) Donnington Park an hour and a half.
NOT near any big towns :D
BEST OF ALL - miles from London!!!

Biker heaven?

Its the other way.

The Road To Hell is the best road out there. It covered with shellgrip, is twisty, enternally long and has lots of run off areas!!

What does Biker Heaven mean ?

bit subjective, isn't it!!!

I like to think it's somewhere around Mongolia/Siberia.

I'll let you know when I've found it!

To be honest, I havefound my biker heaven right here on this Island. ( apart from getting spares ) There are loads of twisties and the vew from some places is just breath taking and in the years that I have been here, I still find places where I have not been. Over the winter month a mate of mine comes out from Germany and brings some dirt bikes with him in his van and in those 4 month we go off the beaten track and explore more places. Have not sat in my car for weeks......... wonder if it wil start hmmm. Ok there are no tracks here but i don?t care much about that in any event. I used to go to Assen when I still lived in Germany to watch the TT races but after going there for 12 years in a row I now watch it on TV. An average of 6 days of rain per year ad snow if I want it over the winter to play about in, when one gets cold all one has to do is drive down the mountain back to the beach for a warm up and a beer. I for my part love it

Downside is, after all that time here I am probably useless in the rain even though i make a point of riding when it does rain...... never know if the itch gets to me to take a trip up north and then it will come in handy.

Scotland on a good day, is as good as anywhere I would say. Deserted well kept roads. See for miles on some of them. Fantastic place.

Biker heaven is the M74 at Gretna? Hmmm.

It's the place where dreams come true...

I reckon that Biker Heaven is a state, rather than a place.

Normally accompanied by a sh!t eating, ear to ear grin. :p
