I love Tenerife, its beautiful and much much under-rated as a destination for getting into the great outdoors. 30mins from the hoardes and you could in the middle of nowhere. Superb food too!

pity you didnt join a month earlier i just been there 6th to the 14th DOH !! is yours the blue naked pointy 650 i saw riding around when i was there ?
and its about 4000 years old
a little bit younger... (http://www.iknow-canaryislands.co.uk/tourist_information/tenerife_holidays/tenerife_north/icod_tenerife_drago.htm)
Icod De Los Vinos situated in North Tenerife between Garachico and Puerto de la Cruz pulls in the daytrippers mainly for it's celebrated Drago or Dragon tree, thought to be more than 1000 years old (although officially it's dated at 800 years old).

I love it in Tenerife, not the chavy south side though. I stayed out there for 6 weeks to do my dissertation on lave flow in the caldera :D had loads of fun up there too :D On our lunch break we fed the lizards our crisps LOL. Climbed to the top of Teide twice too :D

I live in Arico but work mostly in the south of the island. I have seen that bike to but was in the company car at the time and could not catch up:confused:

It looks fantastic for road biking, the tarmac is very good on lots of the roads. But what about offroading? Any trails at all? I am guessing tricky what with a lot being National Park.

I do have a ( 6 ) of the special permits that are neded for running yhe trails and there are ways to get the permit to your bike

there are a few "marked" jeep trails and some quads were using them when we were there.
but as you say probably very limited as its mainly a national park.
