Has anyone here had experience shipping items to the USA from the UK? I am bidding on a seat cowl and I was wondering what this will cost to ship over there, as cheap as possible, regardless of the time it takes to arrive. I have looked up shipping from the USA to the UK and the quote i was given was 40$, but when I checked Royal Post to the USa, they said 180$. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Depends on weight and dimensions of the package.

$40 sounds cheap, although it probably won't be tracked/insured.
Stuff does get damaged/lost so its up to whether you want to risk it.

found a more reasonable rate. DHL for 38GBP. That doesnt include insurance or a tracking number, so im going to guess about 50GBP shipped. Not toobad. In case anyone else need sshipping rates to the US. Check out the DHL webpage, seems to be cheaper than everything else ive seen

If it were I sending....
Provided parcel boxed can be kept under 2Kg and sum total of dimension of parcel doesn't exceed 90cm ie L + W +H not exceeding 90cm(which I think is do-able) price would be about ?25 Airmail/?28.50 International/?29.20 Airsure(which is tracked) signed for. No more than ?30 in a nut shell.
Once packet goes over 2Kg, starts to get a bit more expensive. Working on the assumption that boxed , dimensions are 45cm x 30cm x 13cm and weight 3Kg(over 2kg so now has to be sent by parcel force), the online calculator comes up with ?36 for economy which takes up to 28 days apparently or ?45 for International Standard(takes up to 5 days) or ?55 Global priority(takes up to three days and is tracked)

For something like a seat cowl I'd look at finding a friend who's visiting Europe to bring it back in their luggage, Or if the postage is that high, I'd look at sourcing a new one from a dealer locally.
In the UK a new pointy seat cowl is only 42 quid = about 75 bucks

thats just the unfortunate part. I'm stuck here in the US where finding a 1st gen seat cowl, especially in the right color, is very difficult and pricey. With what people ask for them , you're better off buying one from the UK and paying the shipping. Ah well, thanks for the helpful info, I'll keep searching.

Indeed....Finding any accessory for a curvy in the US is pricey if not impossible.
Recently got a rear hugger from Canada... cheaper than anywhere in the US...and available!!!
(Sorry I checked they don't have seat cowls) :(
Also got a Sargent seat direct from the factory.
They still make them in all options as before despite being told they were disscontinued by several of the larger well known US moto accessory dealers.
