View Full Version : daytona 675 vs sv 650 s
Well as most of you know im now the proud owner of a daytona 675 aswell as my lil sv, and ive had the chance to compare both bikes in one day and wow what a difference!
Sv feels like a good old comfy armchair compared to the daytona!, much lower, more padding on the seat, and riding postion is more relaxed, it was like coming back to a old faithful.
The daytona on the other hand is v tall, solid seat and full on head down etc position, gearbox is v stiff compared to sv but brakes are way better than the sv.
Its made me realise i really dont think i can part from the sv as shes a handy and comfy little bike, whereas the daytona is a more a play/weekend toy-i certainly couldnt do v long journeys on it.

Is it? I'm sure someone told me its quite a physically small bike.
Off to do some googling. :D

Googling results are in:
Seat height mm
SV650-800mm
D675-825mm
R6-850mm
Yup 675 is deffo taller, im on tiptoe most the time whereas sv i can put my feet flat on floor, its smaller in width etc-its deffo narrower and sleeker, like i said the sv feels a like a comfy armchair after riding the 675.
crikey if the r6 is that tall i deffo wouldnt reach the floor, struggle enough with the 675!

I was under the impression that the R6 was quite small, but i guess looking at just seat height its reasonably large.
The SV never felt 50mm smaller than the R6, although i guess if you can get your feet flat then you don't really notice.
I think that sometimes it's not always the height, the width of the seat can make a big difference in how high a bike feels.

Night shift Tony? :)
No, thats Mon and Tue this week.
Just my usual not tired mode.......................
the sv is a bike you can really throw about and have fun,
without the feeling of its going to kill you if you mess around with it.........
well that's what i think...........

That's weird I sat on a brand spanky new R6 in the showroom and could get my foot down better than on my SV (which has a lowered seat and I need Daytona Ladystars). Salesman said its cause the shape of the seat and my leg position.

Also if you have to see any bike slide down the road with you following it, I would think I would rather see an SV than a 675 (or in my case, my Z750)......
So less worrying about dropping it is also going to be a factor.

Well, to be honest, and I'm sure paws will agree...its not always the riders fault that you and SV ed up on the deck...
My dad said my SV was like a comfy arm chair compared to his GSXR aswell, which makes me feel smug, cos I have a feeling that he'll want to do a swap sometime during our ride through france
Hello GSXR, my name is matt. Oh, thats a mighty high redline you have there, can I go and check it out for myself?
Matt
Was gonna say, you try saying "don't drop it" to my old man, who was wiped out by a foreigner jumping the red lights and destroying his Benelli Tornado, and his leg, and 2 years of his life along with it.................
RE the 675, I found that seat really hard too, but my friends liked it??? But its soooo ultra thin. Lovley engine note too. Get a new can on it ;)
SV really is an awesome little bike, I only wish it just had a bit more grunt. A 90-100bhp SV700 or something would be truely a great bike to ride :( Come on Suzuki...... Raise the bar for the MiniTwins. It WILL sell!!!!!!

As I have said, the crash bungs on the Zed are only there as leg-rests for long journeys and for their asthetic value.
Not going to crash this one :)

I would hope the Daytona feels lighter, more agile and quicker. Otherwise I'd want my money back! :p
Daytona all the way. Swap GSXR for SV, Mr Alpinestar.. no chance - I think your daddy is just humouring you!!

You don't say,i've never heard you mention it before;)
lol, you can throw the sv around more but i think thats because its more forgiving and im more used to it??
Come summer hopefully all that will change but i am deffo attched to my lil sv...i use her for during the week and the 675 at weekends so i can compare both as time goes on.

An inch difference is easily enough to take you from flat feet onto the balls of your feet, add into that a wider bike, and perhaps a difference in the preferred rear preload setting and the Daytona could easily feel taller.
The SV is a good wee bike for lots of reasons, it's only power, corrosion and suspension that lets it down.
