i have a 9 month old kitten who keeps having these coughing fits, they sound really dry and painful for her and her whole body shakes with them!?
is this just furballs??
how do you get rid of them?
please no suggestions of the old black bag/river "cure" as my missus wouldnt be to happy about that.
thanks for any ideas

Must agree with Kinvig here.
1 Vets opinion is worth more than 1000 replies on a biker forum :P

I work in a vets, and would say she needs to be seen. If it is a respiratory tract infection, the sooner the better, she may need antibiotics. Has she had her two vaccinations?

does it happen after the kitten has had a drink?
Cold water or milk can make cats cough... it sure does ours.. but it goes away after a min or two....

Maria's cat coughs sometimes, i was freaked out when he first did it in front of me...sounded like a seal!
He also managed to rip a claw out of his foot...while scratching his head. We found the claw in his head
Silly kitty

Ahhh that last one went through me! Reminds me of when we left our puppy in the house when we first had her. She scratched the door so much she managed to plane quarter of an inch of wood off and removed 4 of her claws!

Great, she should improve quickly since she had an injection, works better than tablets do sometimes. Wish all pet owners were as good to theirs as you are.
Phew!
Though, do you think she's allergic to you?! ;o)
