Hi folks,
Just wanted to double check something about the bar end bolts if I may?
They're held in by nowt more than rubber suction correct? Am just putting stuff back together after the last unplanned bike/tarmac interface and as far as I can tell from disassembly of the ruined item the bar end assembly is:
Weight - rubber seal - steel sleeve - washer - rubber bung/collar - nut
(with a long bolt running through all above and the rubber seal wrapped around the steel sleeve).
Crucially, the bolt itself doesn't appear to screw into anything other than the nut, and excepting the frictional forces generated by the rubber bung and the rubber seal, nothing appears to hold the entire assembly into the handlebar?
It feels fairly solid and I doubt that it's likely to come out at high speed, but hell, if it does I'll probably wipe out in spectacular fashion so I kinda don't want to get this one wrong :D
Help, as always, gratefully appreciated in advance :D On the plus side, I have now found the ideal way to get an overly sticky-outy exhaust to kick back into line - you just need to make sure you fall to your right when crashing :D
Cheers,
M
EDIT: Oh, if it makes a difference, it's a pointy K5. In the best colour :D
