....in the 675 club!?
Went into the dealers yesterday - just to 'look' at a bike. On the phone, the guy said it was up for $14,500 (aus$), but when I got there and asked again, they told me it was $13,000! Result! so I offered to put a deposit down there and then for $12,500 and what dealer can refuse a man offering him money! (*note that if you convert this into pounds then it may not seem like such a good deal, but the secondhand market is far more buoyant in Oz than the UK)
So I pick her up just after easter - 07 Triumph Daytona 675 Graphite. 1400kms on the clock and looks new! Chicken strips are about an inch all round though the tyres barely looked scrubbed in. The dealership sold the bike new, but the guy never rode it so he sold it back to them. Has pretty much just been run in and had it's first service. Happy? You bet I am :D
Pics to follow when I collect next week when I have added the pile of mods sitting in my bedroom.

So you're staying in Australia then?
I thought you were coming back to the UK.
You should have got a R6, but i'm sure you know that deep down already. ;)

I'll be in Australia for the next 6 months, then New Zealand for at least 1 year-1 year and a half, so I'll ship the bike there. After that - who knows!
I thought about getting another R6 - Obviously the superior, 2006+ model  like I had before, but I fancied something different and the 675 was the other bike I considered when I bought the R6.

I'll remind you of this post when you copy me (again) and buy a Daytona next year. Of course it will be the older, less attractive Daytona 650!:p
Yep - I do VFX, hence the move to NZ and Weta. Currently working on this:

Ok, picked her up now - Haven't really done much riding - just to work and back. Feels very different to my R6, but given the 6 month gap it's hard to make a comparison. Things I have noticed though - The underseat pipes toast your @rse! Feels a lot bigger than my R6 and the riding position feels a little more focused. The engine note sounds great and unusual - can't wait to get my Micron race can on there! :p Looking forward to getting her on track as that is probably where I can make the best comparison and really get the supercorsas working :)

It was most welcome today I can tell you.
When I got home I was fiddling about under the can cos I thought I heard a rattling and thought something was loose (it wasn't), but in doing so I accidentally touched the can - oh sun moon and stars it was hot, and my left pinkie finger now has a humungous burn:(

got a fair bit of weight to it to, nice bike Luke, Totally irrelevant to me though as it?s far to small to ride with any comfort at all, I do like the gunmetal grey colour scheme though, that'd be my choice if I were to have one.
Cheers Mark.

I still have a scar on my forearm from when i leaned over my bike to fiddle with something after a ride. Touched the can for a second and it hurt like hell for ages. :ncool:

I'm sure there's some guy in Japan posting the exact opposite "why buy britcrap if you don't have to, that's what I say"!
I buy a bike cos it fulfils certain criteria, one of those criteria is not usually "where is the bike made"! I know a few people have partly got them for "something a bit different" and that makes sense, at the end of the day they are less common than jap bikes, but truth be told if that had come out with a Honda badge on it my response wouldn't have been "Blimey that's a Honda? Looks like a Triumph!". I appreciate someone saying they got it for it's (relative) rarity but "jap crap" type comments (usually) don't hold water.

I don't know about less common, i seem to be seeing loads of D675s everywhere!

It's a circle of irony, people buy them because they are less common and by that very action make them common ;)

There again the guy in japan might have no reason for not buying british, reason I wouldn't buy "japcrap" is the fact that the *******s slaughter thousands of whales every year in the name of scientific research.

This is getting silly now, there are probably a hundred and one things that the British government do that are bad, and the Japanese don't do. Btw it's interesting that this particular example, you can never apply here, since (afaik) we have no whales...

lol, that's why you don't buy stuff from Japan? Mr. Suzuki is a whale killer? That right?
As rictus said, its a bit small.
I don't see what 'small' has got to do with it unless you're over 1.9m tall. The corollary is that it fits through tiny gaps, it's very light, and it's hugely flickable. If more size = more weight, then why add weight that's not needed?

I've never ridden one, but one of the guys with us today had one and it just looked tiny.
I'm under 1.9m, but probably over by the time you add bike boots.
The D675 is a claimed 165kg dry and the R6 is 166kg. For 1kg i would take the extra size. :)
