I know this subject has been broached many times before, but as there are so many new members joining and the Sv's are getting older, I reckon it's relevant.

Imagine you're out on your bike and you get a puncture, alarm malfunctions and won't allow you to start the bike, throttle/clutch cable snaps or worse, you have an accident. How would you get your bike home/to dealers?

If you're lucky you'll be able to leave the bike with trustworthy people or a fellow biker in a Transit takes you both home, but if unlucky?

Please think about getting recovery cover, and make sure it allows for bikes that have been immobilised after a prang. Not all do. Most notably the AA.

covered via my insurance, also have a years free recovery with George whites after getting the bike. So should be enough to get it recoverd home or to GW for assesement if the worst should happen. I will be carrying my insurance and recovery details with me on NW3 , just hope i dont have to use them!!

Check small print of insurance recovery. Most only cover getting you to the nearest repairer

Covered with the insurance too cost an extra £6, and mine use the AA and it includes accident recovery (unfortunately I found out the hard way). I am covered with the AA anyway, got a huge discount from a work connection, which covers me in any vehicle which is handy!

I am good mates with an owner of the local bike shop so if I am local to him he'll send one of the vans out, just costs me a pint afterwards!

This is true with a lot of policies, mine covers me to a garage of my choice or relay to another if I was unable to specify which garage at the time after an accident.

Just to clarify DD, does your AA cover accident recovery or not?

Yes, but only through the insurance! My personal AA covers everything else but!

Cheers Dave. Ah right, so if you have AA recovery through your insurance it will cover accident pick up. Makes sense I suppose, they'll claim the costs back from the Insurance. What about the AA cover that comes with a new Suzuki?

Standard road side assistance and relay I think, I know they don't cover home assistance as a neighbour was banging on the door last week at 5am cos his GSXR wouldn't wake up!

The Suzuki Assistance package includes:
Roadside Assistance. If your motorcycle breaks down at the roadside and is immobilised, an AA patrol or appointed agent will get you back on the road. In the exceptional circumstances where an 'on-the spot' repair proves impossible and the motorcycle cannot be repaired locally within a reasonable time, you can utilise the Relay service detailed below
Home Start. If your motorcycle breaks down at home, Home Start will bring help to your doorstep. If the motorcycle cannot be repaired, the AA will transport it to the nearest authorised Suzuki dealer, or another desitination of your choice, whichever is nearer. (Relay is not available for Home Start breakdowns, ie, when the breakdown is at or within 1/4 miles of your home).
Relay. If a promopt local repair at the roadside is not possible, the AA will arrange onward passage for you, one passenger and your motorcycle (including trailer/side-car on tow at any time, all subject to the restrictions on eligibility) to any single mainland UK destination. This also includes the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands; however any ferry costs must be borne by you.
Message Service. If required, the AA can also get a message to a relative or colleague to let them know what is happening.
This 12 Month cover is only available when your new motorcycle or scooter is purchased in the UK from an authorised Suzuki dealer.

Think you should show your neighbour Section 2 of the above. Maybe at 11 PM DD.:)

So the Suzy recovery does not cover accidents.

Again breakdown, not neccessarilly accident. MCI as advertised in MCN does I believe.

I've got cover via my insurance which allows recovery to a place of my choice.
