i bought my sv last january and needed it resticted. i had the dealer install a resticted cdi/ecu unit and they gave me the original. out of my curiosity i tried the original unit but the bike still tops out at 85mph. i think the original unit may be restricted, so can anyone tell me the part number for a full power unit. or does anyone know how to tell the difference between the two units. also if this is the case i have a spare restricted unit for sale. many thanks.

There are a few for sale on Ebay (http://search.ebay.co.uk/search/search.dll?from=R40&_trksid=m37&satitle=SV650+ecu), 85mph on a restriction sounds very low are you sure they have done nothing else to restrict the bike?
I'm restricted and seen 110mph on the speedo. You'll be seeing scooters catching you up if your not careful. You'll have to look at other restricted parts like the throttle!

Suzuki Dealer, its costly though! If you are only getting 85mph from your SV then there is more to than the ECU, even a restricted ECU will get you past 100 (just slower than a full power one).

Thanks for the advice everyone. I'll go back to my dealer and find out what's going on :). I'll post the out-come.

Hi all, problem solved with my ecu http://forums.sv650.org/images/icons/icon14.gif. Dealer told me the unit i have IS full power, all i had to do is insert the unit then disconnect the battery for 10 mins to wipe the memory reconnect battery and happy days, no more scooters on my tail...:smt041.

That's weird, I thought the ECU was the only semi intelligent thing in there, what else is to wipe?

I never had to do that when I swapped them over? Very bizarre...
