For the metal heads

I know a couple of you lot are into your metal so thought you might like to hear a couple of tunes from my mates band. Any opinions are welcome. I let you choose how to define it cause its pretty hard to pin down to any one genre. Also they are trying to get a tour together so if anyone knows any promoters that might be interested that would be cool.

cool name for the band

track 1 ........ seems to be trying too hard, starts off quite heavy, then turns into ska so the screamy vocals dont work.but once the singer stops screaming its not to bad

track 2........ better, i like thrash i also like ska, but i dont think the 2 mix well

track 3 ........ its getting better

track 4 ......... a bit more "mellow" sounds good

track 5 ......... screaming vocals trumtets and keyboards ????


pesonaly i think they need to either scrap the trumpeter or chill out a bit

What keyboards? Its 2 guitars, a bass, drums, a trombone, a trumpet and a sax.

The whole point of it is to try and mix thrash like municipal waste or slayer with the complexities of ska like the blue meanies. Its more metal with a bit of ska chucked in for the sake of it and the arrangements are pretty intense as far as im concerned. Ive never heard anyone come up with anything even remotely close to this other than the flaming tsunamis and there stuff is way more all over the place.

Instrumental is class. But they can't sing for toffee.

Also very annoyed as although I have a 3.5 meg connection, streaming seems to be pathetic and as a consequence have to listen to them in little bursts before it starts to buffer again. Grrrr

Hmm, very interesting. About the only bits of ska I like are NOFX when they go a bit lighter. I would normal listen to heavier stuff than this, but its really not that bad. The thing with cross-over stuff is that if you mix two totally different sounds, you get a song that can't really be listened to in a certain situation. For example, I listen to death metal if I want to have fun and party, and Pink Floyd if I want to relax. I'm not sure I can mix thrash and skanking in one feeling. Totally not crap though at least.

I really like crossover stuff, but then i do have really broad taste in music (some might say cr*p, but I like it!). Both thrash and ska are pretty agressive styles, so they do work together IMO, but then I used to mix Slipknot and DnB together in sets - no really, it works - the more evil the better :smt077:smt077
