I have STAYED HERE (http://www.iberostar.info/iberostar_varadero.htm) twice and got married at the hotel resort.

My mate loves the place, small bribes get you anything over there - he's going for the third time this year. Not sure how it will pan out now Castro is handing the reigns of power over.

Went 3 years ago - best holiday yet - have travelled all over the world on business and pleasure and the people were the most welcoming. Hired a motorbike and went to some small villages - gave out some crayons, pencils, colouring books as well as soap and sanitary towels (they are both heavily rationed).

We stayed just outside Varadero, spent time in Havana as well - great place, beautiful - will try and hook out the hotel name and post some pics to flickr later

Have a look on trip advisor for the best places to stay - go before it changes too much - went when Castro was ok, and people really really loved him.

Best thing was getting a minibus to the airport 2 hours away, and the driver asking if we minded picking up locals to help them on their way to work - everyone thumbs for a lift, and everyone stops to help them on their way - really great way of life.
