Hi All,

Trying to fit rearsets this afternoon, and I can't get my rear master cylinder undone - cheesy bolts.

Could drill it and buy a new bolt... but might also be easier to buy a master cylinder from ebay.

Have found one for a Curvy (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SUZUKI-SV650-SV-650-SV650S-REAR-BRAKE-MASTER-CYLINDER_W0QQitemZ190207628442QQihZ009QQcategoryZ1 0534QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)... question is, will it fit a pointy?

If they fit a K3 Pointy I'm interested?

Drill it Dave. Mine did it on the curvy, weakened the rear of it with a 3mm bit and drilled the head out

Ha, my 3mm screwfix cheapo ****e drill bit snapped inside the last bolt. Really annoying, it was bent brand new out of the box shouldn't have used it. Going to have to drill it from the other side now but will leave that as a job for another day and going to buy a master cylinder so next time I have chance to look at the bike I can be slapping on a new master cylinder and riding it!

there is no need to drill with a pilot drill, just go ahead and drill the head off then once the heads off it's just a case of turning out the thread which usually comes out with no hassle using mole grips or a slot cut in the top then a flat bladed screwdriver. tapping the thread with a small hammer also helps break the crud up inside the threads.

Slotted the head first bibs got a big ass flat blade and put a lever on it and it just sheared off a chunk of the bolt head!
Drilling with the snapped drill bit in there is just destroying my other drill bits

Tommo any word on that master cylinder? Quite wanting it before the weekend. Might have to buy from evil bay

wind the broken drill bit with a punch out. once the head is off there is no force on the threads.

for future reference. if it wont move or feels like its going to chew the top then use a impact driver on it. remember to 'whack it with a big hammer' not tap it :-)

I tried an impact driver :(

How to you mean wind it out with a punch out?

ooops got the words backwords. wind it out with a punch and hammer.

you never hit it hard enough with a big enough hammer ;)

ah with you, thought a punch out was some sort of tool!
I can't get to it at all, it;s surrounded by ally! :(

And no, I didn't - I'm crap with impact drivers! I blame only having a foot of space either side of the bike

Spot on, cheers tommo - quick, no fuss, nice clean mastercylinder and got it fitted for today. :)

Avoided doing a rear fluid change since I got the bike, got some control over my rear brake now!

Get me a screenshot mate, I've definitely not taken it back (not been on PayPal since sending it). Wondering if its to do with that buyer protection crap where they hold the money until they know the buyer's happy.
I hate PayPal, nothing is ever clear

****ers, they do treat sellers like crap!
Reckon this'll be it: https://www.paypal.com/uk/webapps/mpp/security/paypal-funds-availability

Email them, it might hurry up the process , I can send a supporting email if they allow it. I think on eBay they use feedback as an indication all's okay but obviously not the case here

I thinks that's the case mate, I'll just wait the 21 days n see what happens lol.
