Where are you gonna try and get some shots from?? Apart form the pitwall, I am not sure where you can get overly close to the track ... or you got a mahooooosive lens?!!?

Can you not get behind the esses? Or are the usual spectator bits not open on trackdays?
(I've only been there to watch le mans series last year)
I've been on the infield on trackdays there. You can access it via a tunnel between the pit garages and the hospitality suites.

I'll be there on my SV, the only one on track too I think. In the fast group
Gonna get passed a few times I think.
Looking at the weather though, I think I'd be better off on an supermoto with spiked tyres...

a big lie !!!
I have a nice point and press S5800 fuji . not an SLR or ow but a good camera none the less - coupled with my artistry and superb skill produces good results.. (hope theres no one who doesnt know my humour thinking what a cocky ar$ole lol )
however- wont take pics like fizz. he is da man . he is so well bad innit .
looking forward to it now.. goin in car in case it rains and I cry
S5800 is a good bridge camera. I have the S5700.
You can get some good lens for it although its a bridge as it has a threaded lens.
What settings were you using to get those results?
EDIT - Thought you were commenting on the photos posted, not to worry.
I can never keep the quality with the Fuji's, I need to keep practicing, Mine nearly always comes out like below.
My dad in the murci LP640

On another note Melbourne Loop is a good photo spot if you find a hole in the fence for your lens to fit through.
I have some good ones lyjej at melbourne that I have never gotten round to taking off my camera

Black A* Leathers (which will be covered up by my waterproofs no doubt). Bikes a pointy black faired SV with no headlights a GSXR front end and plenty of scratches! I'd imagine I'll be easy to spot. Not least because I think I'll be the only SV on track.

Was nice to meet the burning tree-rat today. Did the bodge hold out?
totally missed this thread - I was there today in the inters on my Red Pointy. I didn't see another SV although I did to a double take when I noticed a pointy looking frame zip past our garage. I was up in No. 3. Had a wander round to see if I could spot any more but must have had my eyes closed - Doh!! Brilliant day - Even with rain on track and 'very' cold fingers on my way home.
Mr Squirrel was in garage 24

I saw the black sv and looked for ya mr squirrel but it was a bit busy and cold.
hello mr travel to leeds and back in a day and track day in between.. nicemeeting u again .. glad u home safe.
Cheers Quiff. It was a long old day and really feeling it this morning. Had a brilliant time. Half my brain is telling me to get to Leeds Suzuki and test ride a gixxer......The other half is saying 'No'. Either way I'll be keeping the SV. It did me very proud yesterday and gave a couple of gixxer lads some blushes!! I know, I'll sit on my ass all day while I decide!!

Yes it held \\:D/
Was good to meet you, thanks for your advice 8)
Had a hard time in the rain, partly due to my rather unwise choice of tyres, mosty due to my incompetance in the wet
When the track dried out in the afternoon I had a great time. First time in the fast group and still managed to pass some people :p
Thanks for the pic lylej

Nice I've got a couple of Lenses I want to try out, a 300mm Nikon and a huge 500mm Tamrom that I bought off ebay.. trouble is the Tamrom is huge and it ways a ton even with a monopod its difficult to hold, Need a tripod really...
This one

thats the one!! id tight crop it though but thats just my lol, your 500mm would be perfect for Racing photography, does it have a mount under the lens itself for the mono pod? i find tripods to cubersum as you need to lug it every where. im normaly sat on my ass or lying down to be about eye level where the head lights would be on the bike.. (if they had them lol,)
what camera are you/did you use to get the BSB pic?
fizzwheel
29-03-08, 01:11 PM
The 500mm has a mount on the lens for the mono pod so its not to bad, its just heavy thats all.
I took that pic with a Nikon D40 and a Nikon 55 - 200mm Lens, I cropped it a little bit to cut out alot of the background.

its a really good exposure too, i found that ducatis always kick out a flame on craner curves at donny, when they short shift.. im on that one next time im at donny lol,

I can't take credit for the exposure, I had the camera on its built in "sports" setting... that was my first time out with it and I wanted to get some shots before I started playing with the manual stuff.
