Anyone use either Stompgrip or another product called Tech Spec?

http://www.techspec-usa.com/index.html

Had the ZX6 for a couple of weeks now and I keep sliding into the tank (read wacking my b*lls against it!) Just after recommendations please.

I know Luke Millar used stomp grips on his old 'R6, he may be able to add a little.

Hi Andy,

That was the same reason I got for my R6. I loved the stuff and have just ordered a kit for the 675. Main use for it is to help you grip the tank with your knees under braking. People say that it gives you grip when hanging off, but it doesn't really make that much difference for that.

Haven't heard of the tech grip stuff, though a quick look at their website shows that it is pretty similar sort of stuff - just stompgrip is clear so it is less obvious. I order mine (both times) from here:

Thanks
Luke

I think just about everyone that's used Stompgrips likes it. But it looks AWFUL  Being clear-ish's no help. I'd sooner have a coloured one myself, than a half-clear ugly one.

Course, that's a wee bit of a shallow comment :D But that's what I do.

I was sort of thinking the same thing but like you say it seems to work so I've gone with it and ordered some. The tech grip stuff is black which would match my frame etc but some people didn't really rate it!

I rather like the Tech Spec High Fusion ones... They've got a reasonable rep from what I've seen but definately not as good as Stompgrips. The Ice ones get a terrible rap, in fact the company even says they're not great for harder riders.

I very much see your point, but I think 2 things make a difference - the colour of the bike and how you stick it on.

I was rather @nal and took the tank off, hairdryer-ing the hell of off everything to get it warm and applying it inch by inch to make sure there were no air bubbles. The result was pretty good! There were no air bubbles and a really good line-up. It took ages, but was worth it. Plus the bike was black. That said, it still wasn't invisible, but in my mind the benefits outweighed the mild fuglyness

I have seen bikes at Rykers that had loads of bubbles and looked awful.

If you get some - take your time applying - I would recommend removing the tank and doing it indoors.

I think I've changed my mind. Anyone know where i can get some tech-spec gripster pads in the UK?

I phoned them last night. I've ordered the snake skin type as I think the high fusion looks a bit like sandpaper! They did say they are expecting material in from the suppliers this week. They were very helpful but didn't seem to know much about bikes! They couldn't understand me when I was saying ZX6R!!!!!!
