I know alarms are a pain, but anyone got one of the above fitted and how have you found it? Had a Datatool system 3 on my previous bike for 3 and bit years with no problems, but haven't the choice this time around.

Cheers

Pete here.

We've got a Meta. Not sure if it's the V2 though.

I prefered my old Datatool 3.

You have to actively prime the movement alarm on the Meta and there doesn't seem to be any easy service mode such as is found on the Datatool. When we go out for the day on the bike with the Datatool I would put it into service mode and leave it there. No more having to faff around disarming after every stop, whereas the Meta you have to press the plip every time and the plip is quite hard to work with gloves on.

I had one, it left me stranded and pushing the bike a mile home up a big f###ing hill once, then packed in entirely after a little crash (on the opposite side to where it was mounted)

It now mostly inhabits the bin.

Read a few reports elsewhere and it didnt seem to get many favourable reports, oh well can always take it off if it turns out to be too much of a pain. Thanks for the replies guys :smt023

I've got one on my GSXR.

Never had any trouble with it, works fine, first time everytime. I prefer it to the datatool veto evo on my SV as instead of arming itself all the time, as in when you are putting fuel in the bike, it just immobilises instead so you can fill up and move the bike around without the alarm going off.

Liz has a Evo 3 on her Duke and thats a PIA for the same reasons.

I prefer the keyfob on the meta as its smaller and looks a bit more bling  Also the keyfob doesnt seem to eat batteries at the rate of knots that the data tool keyfob does.

The system 4 doesn't arm the alarm either without a press on the fob. I had it for 10 months before realising...

I've got it not had any moajor problems just make sure you insulate the wires right and properly as ive had some problems with the wires wearing through and chaffing on the frame etc but really easy to install and all round good easy to use alarm

Guys im having issues with the meta 357T-V2
alarm stopped responding to fobs so after reading on other forums found that they have a life span.
Have disconnected the main unit, but whilst doing it i snagged the LED wires and LED came off.
Decided to play it safe and put it into a garage to have the wiring removed completely -
After a week garage called me and claimed alarm installed in a garden shed (because all the wires are black & not colour coded)
needless to say im glad i was sitting down at the time as i would have fell over laughing.
He dropped my bike off and posted the keys through the letterbox - prob due to embarrassment i hope.
I have just purchased another 357T-V2 so can i just plug in unit to existing harness, splice the LED wires and join the new LED wires to it or should i trace them back to the plug and change them - keep it simple never seen a meta alarm till last month & no electrical experience (at all) skills limited to changing a lightbulb lol

The reason for alarm harnesses being the same colour is there's no point in making it easy for a thief to by pass it.
Splice and heat shrink the new led
