Hi, i was wondering if someone could put my mind at ease. A week ago i bought a 56 plate SV. It has been cold lately but I have been hearing squeaks when I brake. Is this something to worry about or just paranoia? Cheers.

Could be the brakes just driving off moisture, best thing is drop the pads out, make sure the anti-rattle shims are in and the pads are within service limit, if this bike has 'em, I Don't own one, shims not pads :D. Put a wipe of copper grease on the back of the shim, caliper side only put 'em back together and they should quieten down.

Sometimes i get a little squeek on my brakes when they are lightly applied and Im traveling slowly. Not alot to worry about.
Do you use the bike often? The brakes might just need using a bit more :D

Yeah, I try to use it everyday but it has been severely cold here lately. I know it has been sitting at the dealership for ages not being used. Mine only squeaks at low speeds when i have just started the journey. Cheers

It's likely that they just need using a little, they make all sorts of wierd noises at times.
2 things though, it's important that there are no grinding noises, this will f### the discs in no time. (as the metal pad backing rubs on the discs)
It's important that the brakes are not dragging, this will warp the discs in a slightly longer time. (through overheating)
It's likely a brake strip and rebuild will help matters like, but if it only does it when cold then I would just bear it in mind for the minute and check it doesn't get worse, especially if they drag.
