Went out for a nice blast this morning. Fleet - Odiham - Alton - A32 Steep turnoff. Pulled over to check my map and noticed a receipt in my lap. Funny I thought, looks like one of mine. Then noticed my jacket pocket was open and my wallet sitting there mostly empty. :smt022

Worked the route backwards and found a few bits and bobs, but apart from finding some worthless receipts and a very welcome tenner, there are 4 twenty pound notes and a tenner still distributed along the route. All nice and fresh from the cashpoint this morning.

My finds were between the Alton slip onto the A31 and the Steep turn off from the A32.

So, if you''re out that way over the weekend keep your eyes open, you could end up with a free tank of fuel or two if you spot the missing cash.

Oh and remember to triple check all your pockets are zipped shut after stopping for fuel.

And it was well worth getting up early as it was a great ride right up until the point I realised it had cost be a hundred quid.

Was also nice to have about 10 cars pull over to make sure I was all right (walking along the road in bike gear) and offer to give me a lift/fuel/tools if I needed it. Kind of restored my faith in human nature. Oh and I found a riather nice pair of pliars on the central reservation of the A32 close to the found tenner.

No way. That's lame. I did this about 2 years ago. Bought a Frank Thomas jacket which had vents either side of the pocket. When at speed (70mph of course) if you had left the zip even slightly open, whatever was in there was gone. I lost my wallet in Forest Park, Bracknell. Someone found it and phoned me as it had the reciept from my VFR800 which had my mobile number on it. Went round and collected the wallet and all was in there. Like you said, restored my faith in human nature as it had about ?70 in there for the taking. Silly thing is though the following day I lost it again, this time on the M3. Doh!:smt089

Inside jacket pocket for me... Sorry to hear about your loss, hopefully it was poor folk who found the money and not people who'll just waste it on beer and fags

If I had a trouser pocket I would. I'm usually very careful about making sure everything is zipped up but I was distracted at the petrol station trying to get the sat-nav to work. Once again the sat-nav proving an expensive extravagance.

Oh well, lesson learned.

And on the plus side I had a letter from Lambeth council on my doormat later saying they had finally dropped the parking charge that I've been contesting since September last year. (2 appeal letters, 1 MAG solicitor and one article in MCN later) That was £120 so if I take the "glass half full" approach, I'm still £30 up on the day and got out on the bike.

I'm sure it won't make you feel any better, but I remember the case about 3 yrs ago of a guy who'd taken out a bank loan of 5.5k to buy a bike - putthe cash in his pocket - got a lift on the back of a mate's bike to pick it up - left his pocket open - the cash fell out . . .

. . . no bike & a 5.5k loan to pay back :(

Bugger Mark, that really does suck, at least you didn't lose any cards or licenses which is a pain to replace.

Your right with the weather though, looked to be the best time to go out

:laughat:

I've not worn one of them since the 90's.

I prefer inside pockets these days.

I wear the same, they are great for keeping your spare visor in and all the other gubbings required for cleaning it. An Oxford job of something or rather

I went all the way to Brands with 4x weekend WSB tickets in my rucksack..... in the pocket that I had forgot to zip up.

Luckily for me they were all still there when I looked in the pocket in a rather panicked state
