Out running yesterday, 6.5 miles into my run, and I see a wheel trim lying on the grass, I'm nowhere near it, but what I don't see is the circular piece of metal from inside the trim lying in the grass.
Both my feet get caught up in the metal loop, I'm going at a fair rate of knots, just about to step onto the tarmac to cross a road, so I go down and hit the ground HARD !!!!!.
Get up and brush myself down, (looks around hoping no one saw that) and thinking why I am covered in bright red streaks ?? (wearing a dayglo yellow running top), look at my left hand and see this....
One quick trip to our local health service walk in centre to get it cleaned up and gravel removed, and I'm given a letter to take to hospital cos they think I've broken a bone in my wrist,
One quick trip to hospital A&E and x-ray and I now look like this....
It's not broken but I've badly bruised the bone at the base of the thumb, and boy does it hurt.
My knees are badly scrapped and bruised, and my shoulders are in agony. I've put out both hands to brake my fall as I went down, and both shoulders have taken the most of 12.5 stone falling at speed.
I'm now off work sick today, shuffling round the house like an old man, only advantage is I'm just about to watch the MOTO GP live, instead of recording it to watch later.
