View Full Version : Getting fed up...

Just moved to a flat which has a double driveway. It's a ground floor flat which has a two floored flat above. Both front doors are on the driveway but as we're on the ground we get the garden and the driveway (all in the deeds). The people above have already asked nce if they could park a car on teh drive overnght which was fine.

Now, since we only have 1 car I'm finding that people keep parking across our driveway though. Sure it's not an issue now but when I get a car it would block one of us in. And for the past two days there is another car ON the driveway. They didn't ask but it's just parked there. I've asked about and no-one is taking ownership of it. It's on '07 plate Fiesta ST, so not a heap. I'm just getting fecked off of people assuming as we only have 1 car that it gives them the right to park on our driveway. If they asked I would probably allow a car overnight. Who can I call to report the car, seeing as no-one owns it!

It's not worth escalating neighbour disputes if you can avoid it, you have to live with these people long after the offending car has moved remember. Parking is always one of those issues that stirs emotions and emotions are best left behind closed doors. That said, it is your property and you've a right to be a bit miffed.

See if you can block them in somehow, invite a friend over for the night, get them to park in the way :D Then leave a polite note and be nice when they ask for their car to be released :D

Put up notices that it's a private parking space. After that you can issue them with a ticket I believe.

Ring the police and tell them you think a stolen car has been abandoned on your property...

Or

If you have another car, block the Fiesta in with it then it aint going anywhere, then when the people ring your doorbell to ask you to move your car give them a rocket for parking on your driveway...

Or

Let all the tyres down on the Fiesta...

Or do all three, depends how evil you are feeling.

find out whose car it is and then wait till @2 am and say your on callout and could they move the car......
i would pop over to tesco and the come back later....
next night if its there wake them up @4 am.....to move their car....
say u dont mind, but as your on call. you get called all the time...
so as long as they dont mind getting up, u dont mind them parking..
if u dont know who it is. well the sky's the limit......two slow puncture's do help !!!! get a mate to block them in.. etc etc etc....

Call the police, tell them there is a vehicle on your drive and noone knows who it belongs to therefore you assuame it's stolen, can you see a copper please.

They will come with owner check already done and hopefully find the owner, once owner has been found with a bobby do you think they will park there again ??? I think not.

It could be stolen ya never know !

if its private property that its parked on then call the police m8 get them involved

if they dont do anything the bolck it in

also leave a note on the car saying not to park there again

if its parking over and empty drive way theres nothing you can do as the law allows any one to park pver a empty drive way and not block a car on the drive

If it's your property, you could get a couple of those fold down posts with padlocks, they're not expensive.

That's a lot of ideas! I think a polite note first. Then it will be the police.

I thought it was illegal to park across a dropped kerb?

Best post so far.

I had similar problems as its only usually myself in a 4 bedroom house. The car goes in the back of the garage and is rarely used and the bike is usually in it as well. All well and good except my neighbours took to parking in my drive and once on my lawn!

Aside from blocking me in, which they sometimes did, i know exactly how you feel Dan. It's my ****ing property so stay the hell off you *******s! Just because it's empty doesn't mean they can park there.

One neighbour in particular thought that it was fine parking there, as "If i needed to get the bike/car out of the garage, then i can ring their doorbell and ask them to move the car". WTF?

I'm angry just thinking about it. :smt070

Eventually i fitted one of those folding posts, which did work, but i backed the X5 out the garage and broke it. :D

does it have an alarm (if its new it might). keep setting the alarm off.

id put a note on the windscreen politely explaining that it is private property and if they park on the driveway again you will contact the police.

find out where they live and have a gm rideout meet outside their house. As you never seem to ride anywhere on the rideouts you could all just sit with the engines running as you have cups of tea and party rings

ROTFLMAO :D:D:D

But to OP, as already said, be sensible over this as you will be neighbours for longer than the car is an issue......going nuclear is usually not helpful as a first step..........and these things can simply grow a life of their own.

Someone did that to a friend of mine, it rather annoyed him, so when they did it again he chained it to his landy and dragged it 500 yards down the road and left it on a verge. 4 knackered tyres is a fair parking fine hehe. Not really the diplomatic sort, my mate :-D

Nice!

Sadly i think the X5 would struggle to tow an inflatable banana. :)

That was a series 3 airportable with a perkins 3208 (I think, big f### off diesel anyway) rangerover chassis and mahoosive tyres and really mentally articulatable-axles and stuff. Not short on pulling power anyway!

The owner was not impressed, we were falling about laughing!

Have you no mates with naff cars? Can always rope a couple together. Or use one and a snatch rope and bounce it off the drive! You need a strong hitch though.

I love that film. Seen a few versions of it now but that's the best one. The scene in the club when he took some E cracked me up. Polite note left. Car still there and I'm off today. It's winding me up! I'm turning into Victor Meldrew!
