I doubt you'll get a 'plug and go' race rev counter. Most of them have a pickup lead that fastens to one or more of the HT leads. A bit pricey to, I wouldnt bother personally unless you have £150 burning a hole in your pocket, even then there are better things to spend it on.

same as flymo says you wont really get a plug and play race type rev counterand plus just 2 get something its gona cost a bit 2 which you could spend on better things probley.
ive never seen the back of a set of curvy clocks but is ther no way you can cut the left side/speedo part of them off???:?

Cheers for the info, im pretty sure you cant cut them as there is a circut board in the same shape as the clock.:(
sure i will just have to live with it

You'll probably have to set the final red light to 20, 000 rpm. The SV uses wasted spark so you may find you're giving it twice as many pulses as necessary.

cheers for the heads up!:notworthy:
Excuse my ignorance but what is "wasted spark" is it when sparks go to the pub?
How much and where from in UK?

SV ignition pickup is on the crank, so the ICU doesn't "know" whether each cylinder is at TDC compression, or TDC exhaust, so it fires the spark on both. It's only way to do it without a pickup on the crankshaft or any shaft at half crank speed to know which valves are doign what.
Result of that is the spark at TDC exhaust stroke is "wasted" (can help with emissions too apparently) so you're getting two sparks for every firing.

I see they are selling the curved one for ?89.99. http://www.techtwentytwo.co.uk/shiftlights.php
Thats a nice unit. They do deal with wasted spark, got the following from there SV1000 install manual;
The calibration value needed is 1
(default is 2). Hold both buttons, turn
ignition on and release. You’ll have 2
lights. Press the bottom button twice
(now one solid light) and then press both
buttons together to save. Test it works, you should get one light at 1,000rpm, 2 and
2,000 etc… Re-program it so the first light comes on around 4,000rpm and (so you
have at least one light while cruising) and the upper set-point at the redline you want.
let us know how you get on with it.

Jut use a Datatool Revlight, I run these on all my racebikes, all you need is a way of telling you the engine is at 4krpm to set it up.
They work well and crash well and have a permenant memory so dont need re-calibrating.
The signal from the ecu is too 'messy' so you need to take the feed from the ignition pickup, i normally tap in to the plug by the battery, I cant remember the colours but you need the 'wrong' side for it to work best, ie the neg side of the pickup.

-ve is the right side. The +ve is just a hot feed from the ignition, after all it's switching the current off which causes the spark.

I remember loads of people on GIxxer.com used those shift-Is, they seemed generally very pleased. If I wanted a race tach, I'd probably use the Elliot one, it's very nice- my mate Ben has one of those on his Bandit and it does work very well, analogue gauges are so easy to read. But not cheap, oh no.
Hmm. The Vaypor has a race mode which disables the speedo and incorporates a shift light. Double hmm, I have a Veypor which no longer detects speed, but which should still work for revs. Voila, one race dash \\:D/
