View Full Version : What would you do?
I wanted a poll but dont know how to sort one out so...
bought something for the bike about a month ago. Went it arrived it was the wrong one so I phoned the company and they sent a replacement. They said that a courier would pick up the incorrect item but nothing so far. It's worth nearly ?200 so what would you do?
Phone company and remind them or sell it???
Send it to me and I'll make sure it goes back to the company.... honest....
Keep it 6 months and then sell it on, there is rules about the time frames. You gave them the oppurtunuity and they didint oblige.
I once did this with an item of similar value, they sent 8 instead of 4, they were made aware and no effort was made to pick them up so they got sold on.
£10 a day storage fee, after 20 days get rid to reclaim the £200 debt they owe you ;)
Should I phone them again to remind them or was the initial phone call and them saying they'll pick the incorrect item up enough?

Strictly speaking....legally, its enough.
It depends on how much you want to remind them

Maybe I'm a bit too straight, but I would phone them - don't like being ripped off, so I don't rip people off.....
.... Well that's what it feels like anyway.
You never know when you might want to use this company again, so why potentially upset them?
Mate of mine had this happen with an expensive mountain bike, rang them about it but days turned to weeks turned to months...... So he sold it on Evilbay

Thats why I posted. It somehow doens't feel right by not reminding them but didn't know if it was me just being too nice!

I'd be "fair" by calling them and saying if they dont pick it up in X amount of days you're gonna "dispose"of it.
The X amount is what you feel is fair to you and them and how you dispose of it is then entirely up to you, wether you sell for profit or give away or throw in a bin... your choice ;)

the cans for my tuono arrived fubarred the seller is claiming from royal mail and already refunded me... apparently royla mail will come and collect them??
I await with baited breath
Update: I phoned the company concerned 4 weeks ago now & they said they'd collect it the next day. So far no-one has turned up to collect it! I don't want to end up selling it then they come to collect it the next day but I can't MAKE them collect it can I!!!

Poll added.
Personally I'd ring them and remind them that you still have it. Karma has a funny way of getting you back...
edit - oopsy just realised its an old thread...

I've phoned them twice now to remind them, plus when I originally phoned them to tell them they'd mixed the order up. In all fairness when I originally phoned to let them know they'd sent me the wrong one I had the correct one the next day that's why I don't want to rip them off or anything but I'm not begging them to come and collect it!!!
I'd wiait or a good few months and then if nothing EBAY!
Am i an un-honest person :rolleyes::confused:

well, as you already have the replacement and they can't be ar$$ed...ebay.
I bought a new Hagon shock from a company a year ago for Suzy, it was sat under my bed for a year before YC went to fit it......erm it was the wrong one, no way hose would that have fit. I rang them explained the reason for not having it fitted( my mechanic had a nasty off, and was still unfit to work) and they said, Ok we'll send you the replacement, put the old one in the box and we'll exchange it on your doorstep with the courier! hey presto they did. Excellent service, and they could ahve said no.
Why the company you dealt with didn't do this I don't know...eejjitts.
EBAY!!!!
ok how about this one then.
My brother was a part time fireman and had all his money paid into a seperate bank account. He then bought a new r6 ,(1999 ish I think) ,on credit and the details were taken of his fire brigade account..The dealer has gone bust and still no money has gone out of his account.Free bike or what?

Not told us what this item is.If it is something of high value then you really should protect yourself by getting a reminder sent to the owner on paper.A couple of phone calls could be denied later. If it is of little value then who cares?
