Need Very Short bungees in a hurry.

Anyone know where i can get some short bungee cords in a hurry? By short i mean about 9inches?:p I need them to secure my panniers for a weekend away. the ones supplied with the bags are way too long.

Also, how do i measure a bungee. I borrewed one strap that is just about short enough from a friend - and the cord bit measures 9 inches, but with the hooks included its 12 inches. If i want one the same length do i order a 9inch bungee cord or a 12 inch one?

I loop longer bungies once around the tail section to shorten them. HTH

I look my the 18inch bungee supplied with the panniers. 4 school boy reef knot type things later i now have an 8inch bungee that fits perfectly :-)

Now i'm all set for my trip to the new forest where it is sunny. :-)

If they're common or garden type round elastic bungees with wire hooks, do it like this; pull the stapled end of the elastic through the coil of the hook and knot it at an appropriate length around the straight part of the hook, this allows you to easily undo it and re-adjust the length as needed.
