Whats the weather like in late August early September?
Staying here (http://www.skiindulgence.com/) because the missus's auntie owns it...
Apparently, quite plush up there aswell. Will deffo go walking and picture taking, may even take a skateboard, take the wheels off and make it into a snowboard !
I always said that I would like to do one snow holiday in my life this is the chance, but I guess lessons etc for boarding would be expensive?
I went in June last year for a weekend. It was boiling one day (Red got sunburnt) then pis*ed down the next.
Its a lovelely place though. I went to Lucerne for one night (Flew in saturday flew home sunday). The transport there is second to none. Get a swiss pass for the transport, its works out cheaper.

Yeah, fancy a little bit of sun, but snow aswell :D lol.
Want to go up to the tops for photos aswell. Just somewhere nice away.
We biked over to Verbier July last year. Was warm, and a little snow on the tops, but not enough to snow I wouldnt think. It really is a beautiful country .... I envy you :D

Apparently just spoken to the missus, she said that when she was there last year at the same place, there was a thunderstorm, but being so high, you were actually in the thunderstorm lol, she said it was hard to breathe lol.

THAT WOULD BE SOOOOOOO COOL !!!!!
As for the boarding, assuming that all you are paying for is flights, write the cost off against the accomodation savings and just do it

Gonna be driving over as her folks missed out with her brother breaking his leg last year, they still have a eurotunnel ticket to use. But yeah I am considering it!

Lol, there are new rules for mini buses aren't there abroad now. Only just picked up on it. There are 7 of us, should just about be able to struggle with a people carrier :)
While in Switz, stick to the rules, it's not worth pushing your luck!
You must have a motorway pass if you use them at all. You can get them at the border or at petrol stations (or at the Swiss tourist office in London if you happen to be passing!). On the spot steep fines for not having one.
Speed limit is 80kph on normal roads, again, on the spots for speeding and the fines get very steep as the speed increases!!!
Apparently they can be sniffy about foreign sat-navs, you're not allowed speed camera databases (they can confiscate).
Aug/Sept the weather can be very hot or very wet, as others say. Mountain thunderstorms are monsters. :smt100
Lovely country though.
Septembers the end of summer dood. Great time of year to take the bike mind.

You could take lessons over here? May be cheaper than abroad?
The ex was into snowboarding. Think it used to cost about ?30 per hour for a lesson.
Either way, enjoy!!

I spent some time in Lauterbruann (bad spellin I know) quite high up in the mountains in a camp site in a valley and at night there was a huge thunder storm in the valley I nearly **** myself, the thunder was kept in the valley and just kept boucing around the mountains. All good though and great country if youv'e got the money!!!
It's bike nirvana (apart from the strict limits).
i just love being in the mountains in the alps summer or winter. winter is amazing where everything is just white and looks stunning. but i actually think the green of summer is even better.
it does get very hot though. i've been in france canoeing over the summer and it does sit in the mid 30's easily. plus there's so much to do, boarding on glaciers, mountainbiking, climbing, walking, generally just hanging around in stunning scenery, swimming in mountain lakes......
i'm very jealous. i'm off to look at holidays. need to start thinking about going to the snow for xmas or new year again!

+1. Do not push it with the law in any way shape or form and you'll be fine. :)
