I bought a damaged Akrapovic can at the weekend with the intention of swopping it for the identical one on my CBR600 trackbike. But, when I put the nice Akra on my SV it was way too long. So I chopped 5 inches off the front (damaged) end and tomorrow I'll go have a new band fitted by Mark Hill at MHP in Stevenage. I took some pics just to see what it will look like _ I think it looks pretty good

How much I cut off, you can see the damage bit on the right

Looks good mate! It is Titanium? and was it difficult to cut? Just curious!

Was a doddle to cut with a 4 1/2 inch cutting disc. I then cleaned the cut edge with my Dremel fitted with an emery linishing wheel. It makes loads of sparks when it's being cut and a very bright spot appears, almost like the point of penetration when Mig welding steel, that makes it difficult to see the line you're cutting to, so I re-marked it in marker pen.

I could do, but it's such a shame to chop a nice new and good condition can like this. It's always worth doing to a damaged one that's worth buttons, but not to a good one.

I would have cut 6 inches off, but I didn't want the hanging strap overlapping the Akra sticker.

I chopped a stock R6 can down a while ago to fit to my race bike on strict track days. I took most of the internals out and was surprised at just how much metalwork is inside. Some seriously heavy bits of metal ended up in my spares bin :-)

I was running a Vance and Hines race system and can and that could serously make some noise. Made me paranoid on the track as it always sounded like someone right behind me!

Ah fair enough, i managed to scrape my sticker a while ago so just peeled it off. I also turned the end cap round as that had a scrape on it as well
here's what mine looks like now

Looks ace most cans on bikes are to long and need a trim to look right. I stubbied the cans on my sv1000 and they look much neater.

That looks good. Mine had a smacked front end cap as well, but Mark at MHP says he'll be getting all the marking and dents out of it when he's putting it all together for me. He says I won't be able to notice it has ever been smacked. I'll post pics when I get it back.
