Hard to say. i got the elite but tbh there is no major reason to.

Get Rainbow 6 Vegas 2. best game on it for a while imo. Only game ive played on it for ages.

Wouldnt go for Elite, nor would I go for the basic one. Id go for the ?199 version which has HD and leads which you want if you're going HD.

The biggest let down with XBOX is that theyre so noisy.

I dont think you need the elite, I got the middle version (with the 20 gig hard drive thing) and its been excellent so far.

20gig is all you need, its best to have the hard drive or you cant download updates and downloadable content like new maps for cod 4

I agree with the others, I found my standard 360 with 20GB more than enought but my brother in-law dowloads movies and loads of tunes etc and wishes he went for the Elite, 120GB and HDi lead seems good value for the extra.

I think a few reviewers have said its not worth changing if you already have the standard one but if you are buying new then Elite is well worth considering (you have a HD TV don't you?)

I have an Elite as I`m a heavy user (Administrator of Xboxliveaddicts.co.uk for my sins) , I bought it solely for the fact it was pimpass Black to match my TV and it had HDMI on it to connect dirct to my HDtv , but to be perfectly honest I didn`t run out of room on the 20 gig version .

Remember to budget for the bits you didnt think about, like the live subscription, the audio earpice thingy maybe, the wireless adaptor maybe.
Oh and ear defenders for the absolute racket it makes.

Well you can connect to Live pretty much out of the box but If I remember rightly , they do the subscription on a scratchcard from "Game" that also comes with the Live Headset for around the same price .

Don't have an HD tv so I'll just got for the normal version. Doubt I'll be downloading much stuff anyway, I have a laptop for that.
I'll need to go to Game and see what bundles they have just now

Nah definitely get the one with the hard drive. It's excellent. You need it for the downloads because there are patches, updates etc that require the hard drive, also, eventually there might be some games that require it.

360 looks shoost on normal telly dude, just doesn't do it justice one bit.

LCD's and the like are so cheap these days I would seriously consider one. I spent 300 nicker on a 27incher and it looks the nuts and small enough to fit in another room so no arguing with SWMBO over telly time:smt041

Definately get the Hard Drive version , the downloads over Live are to do with the games , Like extra maps for levels , extra cars in racing games etc , and your game saves will need somewhere to go , trust me ...... get a 360 with a HD (Hard Drive)

Had a look today and I can get a 360 with a hard drive for ?230 from Gamestation, and get halo and PGR free. Couldn't see if it included the headset or anything though. Is the headset normally included in the box?

The Hard Drive stores various data , a bit like a gps system , so when you do a replay it accesses the drive and sends the info to the rendering engine of the game giving you a perfect replay .

I got the Elite version just because I'm a geek and my 'core' version that I'd had since release day was starting to sound like an SV! Benefits are that, well it's black, so goes with your other bits better (if they're black of course). The HDMi lead which does give a teensy better picture and also carries the audio signal as well, although to be honest I have a 5.1 audio setup so I still use an optical cable for that too. But the most important was the HD space for me, my 20GB was pretty full. But in truth the Premium version will do you just fine. Enjoy.

Went and got one at lunch time today from gamestation. Had to carry it back to work, what a weight! Tried to pre-book gta but they said they werent taking anymore pre-orders for it. I'll try GAME tomorrow.

?230 for the xbox plus halo and pgr. I've got the free month trial of live set up and was playing pgr earlier which is really good.
Just been playing halo, but cannot get the hang of the aim stick. Takes me ages to slowly move the crosshairs over.......those guys.......whatever they are lol
Plugged it into my router and it can now play my music and when I turned my laptop on, it had a wee chat with the xbox about something, can't remember what. But it's really cool having it all linked.

I think you have to highlight your Gamercard on the guide and do it from there as it`s a setting that can be gotten to from any game being played at anytime , rather than the dash .
