Ah well that should only take them an hour or so. And as pointed out, you don't need to get there till Wednesday evening :)

Front caliper rebuild you say..hmm, i think my record is about 45 mins for both calipers and a bleed! If they take any longer than an hour, they are stitching you up

At one point they had a less that perfect track record. They may be much better now. I'm not sure they ever performed work that was unneccesary or dangerous but hardly had glowing reports for customer service.

I may well be wrong, only know what Samnooshka told me after she got her bike done by them.

I no that the management changed a few years ago but thats about it, can u recommend any bike garages that are reputable???

I know its not local to you, but i highly recomend Premier Motorcycles in West wickham.

However, i do my own servicing now. Knowing what to look for then you can fix/replace it as you go, thus spreading out the cost.

For the 1st 5 years of its life, the SV was serviced by premier.

Thanks mate, funny that you mention them coz i have heard good things about them. Ive invested in a haynes manual and im gonna get a "non-runner" sv engine to practice on aswell, fitting new brake pads n easy stuff like that are fine but its the bigger jobs that sometimes perplex me.

Good stuff. Changing brake pads, and even a caliper re-build can look and seem daunting 1st time round. But there is a lot of knowledge on here, and always someone happy enough to help/show you want to do.

There are some thinsg however that i dont do, like chains. Its cheap enough to get a kit and fitting in one go.

I have half an engine in my shed waiting to have its gearbox pulled out and fitted to my current engine if you want to do that

Thanks for the welcome Sudoxe, well my baby is back in the safety of my home and can i just say to you all now "I AM NEVER GOING BACK TO AYE-GEES AGAIN!"
This is what was done.....
New front position lamp
1 new headlamp (neither would light on normal beam, apparantly there was a problem in the loom)
4 orange bulbs for my indicators (didnt flash orange apparantly "Boll***s")
Front Brake pads with rebuilt calipers
New throttle cable
Rear roller brake test!
Tried charging me ?495!!! It only went in for new brakes and a throttle cable!
After a lenghty argument with jim the owner i got it down to ?250, and amazingly it then passed its MOT with flying colours...... suspicious huh?
The head mechanic then told me she was misfiring coz of a loose spark plug and needed more work doing to it and i should book it in again, funny thing is i have just very recently replaced both sparks and the air filter and all were tightened fine.
When i got home i checked the sparks and they are (funnily enough!) still fine! They have also scratched my instrument panel, how i dont know!!!!!!!!
Safe to say im not ammused!

Sadly they have to make a living, but not all have a concience (SP?)

Just ask BEFORE you do a job. Then we'll either find whats been posted before, or give you some pointers.

There really isn't anything on a maintinence schedule that its that difficult once you have been shown. Just make sure you have the right tools for the job.

$495 is a bit steep though. My dearest servcie was ?300 and that included a front tyre.

Did they give you an itemised bill? If so, bring it a long tonight.
