View Full Version : Mark's funeral arrangements
I needed to confirm with Marks family their wishes before I could give any information. Pete & Debra his parents and Simon his brother have requested all that knew him attend the funeral service.
An open invitation for all those that wish to attend.
The funeral is being held at Chiltern Crematorium, Whielden Lane, Amersham, HP7 0ND on Monday 14th April.
The service starts at 2.30pm.
The Thames Valley members and friends are meeting at 1pm at the Shire Horse Pub. This is our regular meeting place. We will be leaving the Shire at 1.30pm to arrive at the crematorium by around 2pm. We will be in leathers and on two wheels please feel free to do the same. Anyone wishing to attend may do so. Please meet at the Shire at the specified time.
On behalf of Mark's family,
Thank you.

I won't be coming, due to university, plus since I didn't know ASM in person, and not overly well on here, I would feel wrong and way out of place attending
But to you guys, and his family and other freinds, my thoughts are with you. I wouldnt wish those feelings of loss upon anyone, its the worst feeling ever.
Oh; don't start remembering the funny times when your sitting there, with everyone around you sad and crying. No-one thinks its appropriate for someone to start laughing at a funeral...I bit through my lip at my cousins funeral trying to stop myself from laughing, remembering some good times we had. Really hurt.
My deepest condolences again, guys. I'm here if anyone needs a chat, either by PM or MSN (you have to PM for that).
Matt
Sorry I won't be able to make this in person but will be there in thought.
Would it be appropriate/possible to send a wreath from SV650.org, particularly from those of us who cannot be there?
Sally
As Mark and I had never met face to face (despite some quite humourous exchanges on this forum) I won't be attending, but I'd really like to pay my respects to the young guy I found highly amusing in some other way, such as contributing to flowers or a wreath.
If there is a wreath being sent from the org, could details please be prominently posted somewhere. I personally think it should simply spell out his catch-phrase/word, "MEH"

Ape, suggest we take donations from members who wish to contribute towards a wreath. Maybe one from the TV group and another from the rest of the .org. Any money left over to go to Riders for health or TV Air Ambulance, something like that..
Edit - Would have to move very quickly on this!
TV Air Ambulance sounds like a really good idea. They've just got a new helicopter (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/oxfordshire/7337041.stm)
For everyone.
There is going to be a donation fund set up to a charity in the memory of Mark. I'll be setting this up tonight and will post the details.

who should i give money to?
You will be able to donate directly to the charity via the link that I shall provide once I have it set up for the memorial fund. For the wreath, you can donate to Nick (Warthog) should you wish to, as he has very kindly agreed to sort this part out.

I would just like to say, I never met him but bantered numerous times on the forum. Therefore, as I can't attend I will ensure that at 2.30 I will take some time out from work to think about him, his family and his freinds.
RIP Mark

Yep, heavy, thundery showers apparently.
BBC say heavy showers between 1 and 4 while Weather Channel say bright sunshine all day.
Prace bets now.
I noticed the difference too. I'm an optimist me.

if we all bring waterproofs it will stay dry - sods law dictates...so I'm bringing some.

It'll be ok most likely, just like every other day BBC have said will rain. Mostly dry with the odd small shower is my bet. See you there bang on 13:00 we hope.

If you can get to Maidenhead, and have cover for other bikes, you're welcome to borrow one of mine so long as you promise not to drop it.

Thanks for offer, but my knee is still not good to ride. Wouldn't forgive myself to drop your bike or another/Dan's bike even

got back on from the funeral.
Was a very nice but sad funeral, now Mark is at rest and looking down on us mark would have been proud of the good turn out of the TV lot.
Good to see you all, and hope you all got back home safe.
I think you mean "now Mark is at rest and looking down on us laughing his bumcheeks off that we believed all of his porkies hook, line and sinker."
French indeed. <shakes fist in ASM-avatar stylee>

He defo had the last laugh.. and not only with us by the sound of it!
A very nice send off indeed. I think that turning up on the bikes added that little something.
BTW, I am Swedish and my family are really royalty........................
A very nice send off indeed. ..........
plus one - although I probably should have taken my Ducati - red is so much more my colour.
Golden spoon award will be safe for a while
I would like to send out a big thank you for everyone that attended. You all added something that with out a doubt, would have been missing had we not been there. We all found out a few things about Mark that we didn't know before, and a few things we thought we knew but were wrong
Biking was a big part of Mark's life and we represented that very well. So once again, thanks.

Was good to meet his folks, such a nice unassuming bunch of people who clearly loved their son very, very much.

Absolutely, cheers everyone involved. I just thought I'd share one more story that I know some of you heard but I thought it was comedy gold if anyone else hadn't heard it. Mark's mum asked Adrian and I what we did for a job, as apparently in an effort to reasure her that we were not Hell's Angels, Mark had told her that one of us was a solicitor and one worked for Christie's! He just about fooled everyone in the world :)

I just hope us being there made what must have been a very difficult day just a little bit easier in some way for his family. Was really nice to be able to talk to his mom and dad, they were both very strong today.
And Mark - yes you did get the last laugh after all, you cheeky bugger ;-)
Another thank you to Si for all the behind the scenes work he did. Cheers Si.
And also for Nick for sorting out the wreath. Cheers Nick.
thanks everyone for turning up...
Just to show Mark's parents how many people he had sincerly befriended through his love of motorcycling.
Thank you Si for your liason with his parents.....
I just hope we made it that bit easier for everyone and us turning out like that showed how much of an impact he made on us and the biking community.
His family and especially parents were very strong and kind and they told us that the comments left by everyone here on the forum was very well appreciated and his parents and grandparents had read them all and they thanked everyone for that.
Was a tough day but I think it was made that little bit easier by having everyone there and I think us not turning out to be hells angels with big moustaches helped too :)
Thanks alot for organising Si, did a great job
Also Nick for the flowers and the very nice note
Was good to see you all there
I can't believe he's not French! and there's no chateau! :D

I`m so pleased to read that such a sad occasion went as well as it could and even had it`s lighter moments, I`m sure Mark`s family appreciated such a huge show of support from you all.
Hope Mark`s wreath did us proud and thanks guys for involving us all every step of the way.... tho lots of us never met Mark I`m sure that many of us wanted to make some sort of a gesture as our way of sharing your loss and recognising the impact Mark made on the org as a whole.
Thanks again and was thinking of you all yesterday
