Yeah thanks Si that's really helpful ;)

You know I'm going to phone you when I'm lost so don't mock!

Sally, If you take the M25 onto the M40 to junction 4 onto the A404.

Stay on the A404 and take the exit for A4 Reading. This is just before the A404M. Right off the roundabout and first pub on the left.

Easy peasy.

But completely different from what Knightrider suggested.
Even coming from the North google Maps recommends M4 instead of M40 (it's 1 mile shorter ) & the M4 is a very easy way if you can remember come off at jct 8/9 (yes it really does have both numbers) turn right (2nd exit) on the roundabout with traffic lights (how can you have roundabouts & traffic lights still on a Motorway???) 2nd left off the A404(M) at jct 9b onto the road with the Shire on it. (on your left) :D

edit: Si's route does look really easy too - the choice is yours :D

I've done the both trips both ways plenty of times. Doing the M40, A404 is quicker than going all the way round to the M4. The average speed is much higher. The A404 is dual carriage way all the way.
