Guys - thanks for all the good luck, I needed it.

I'm gutted I was running a strong 3:52, when I tripped on a bottle and went ar$e over t1t!!! Injured my foot and ankle (just an excuse really) at 10 miles, didn't enjoy it one bit from that poit on especially in the peeing down rain, then dry, then hail, then more rain.

I said never again yesterday and then entered the online ballot for next year as soon as I got up. Am a bit (read a lot) sore and have got to look after the kids today.

Still I raised ?2200 for the Stroke Association, so the day wasn't a complete loss.

In the words of Arnie "I'll be back!!!"

Thanks all.

My leg is fairly sore after the fall and my hips are strangely sore too.

The Mars Planets in the finisher goody bags seemed like a great idea at the time, not so great on the way back up on the train...........

Ed - you are a proper runner. I have real respect for people who can do a really decent time.

£2200 was easier than I thought, but the marathon was more difficult than I expected.

You completed it though :salut: Bad luck about the bottle, I always thought how dangerous they are when people chuck them away into the road, but then I guess it's difficult to aim when you're concentrating on not falling over in the first place

Did you see any of the Masai warriors on the way? I was told 4 of them got to the finish :)

Well done, that man. Running a marathon is a real achievement. I doubt that I'll ever manage it. I love running, but I'm really bad at it. I've been humbled twice today - once by Kev finishing the marathon and then by the bloke on the treadmill next to me in the gym, who did 6 miles in 36 mins.

I'm rubbish at it too, see my time. I was aiming for a 3:52!!!

I love this forum.........

Ed - if you read this, have you ever run Berlin? I am so gutted with my time I am forced to run another Marathon this year.

Nope, not run anywhere else in Europe! Although I could be tempted, I haven't been to Berlin since before the wall came down. I hadn't run for a few months - busy at work, life gets in the way - and last night I was inspired by you so I laced 'em up and headed out the door. Fantastic feeling to be out again - although I struggled!!

I know I have that 3:52 or at least a sub-4 in me and I am so disappointed with myself for letting a little fall get in the way, my attitude was bad on the day. So perhaps Berlin might be the option, am going to find out some more info today and have a think.
