View Full Version : First Ride!
Went for my first ride on my sexy SV this morning! Had a ride about with m
Definately happy about choosing it as a first bike. Just need the weather to fair up though I can't see it happening today :(
Glad you like it, would be a bit late if you didn't!
I got soaked in a hail shower between Much Wenlock and Shrewsbury and my washed bike as of yesterday is now looking ****ty again.

I wanted to go out today....but, having spent nearly 8 hours cleaning the bike, the sensible one (Lily) said......nah......not good......so stayed in all day.
Glad did as I would be so cheased off at it being dirty again. lol.
Although, seeing as I commute, gonna be dirty tommorow. lol

Indeed its a case of riden or cleaned. Best thing you can do if you ride it often is to give it a resonable quick clean to at least lose the salt.

Been out on it for 20 miles to go and grab something from my folks.......but still clean.
I've got the hose pipe out front ready, so each day, will give it a quick spray and then wipe down with a chamois and put it to bed with a sprinkle of scottoiler FS365. lol
All good.

I did consider that approach, but the taps too far away, so I settled on roughyl a bucketful of ACF50 over winter hehehe

My sv is my first and now only bike . I had a gsxr750 k4 aswell for a time and found the grin much bigger on the SV . So I sold the gixxer and now grin like a cheshire cat on every ride on my sv.
Its not all about how fast you go but more the pleasure of the journey .
Get yourself out more and enjoy it . At least 12k miles for a first timer I'd say . I did over 15k in my first year .
Looks like I have a mileage to aim for then! :D
It's weird, today before I got on I was ****ting it, stalled once setting off but as soon as I had left the driveway I was smiling.
I am nervous now for my journey to work on it tomorrow morning! Guess that can only be a good thing!

Just relax and enjoy it. My first days commute was the same, but every day just becomes so much more fun.

Ah, I still remember my first ride t'was a cold winter afternoon. I went roun the block to aquiant myself. When i got back, there was my dad, warming up his gsxr750. We went for a ride into the setting winter sun, what an awesome feeling when i looked in my mirrors back at my dad, riding along at 40mph

If you're in any traffic, and especially if you're not, even more so if you are... a healthy hatred of taxis, cars, taxis, buses and taxis is a good thing to nurture... Remember, just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get you! :-D
