You can buy the title for about ?30. TBH I think Captain GayLord is a more suiting title for anyone who wants to do this.

Deed Poll. When I had to mess about with it it gave me the option of choosing a title for myself...Lady Maria sounded far better than the Miss I'm stuck with

(Ok by sound alone, I'd hate to be a Lady, etiquette is not my strong point )

I looked into this a good while back - thought it would be fun for da Missus :takeabow:

The short answer is that buying a title that legally entitles you to use the title "Lord" (in the accepted sense) is essentially Bollox.

However yer can call yourself anything yer want to (as long as not deliberately misleading), including "officially" by Deed Poll. Only makes you a Lord in your own mind. Or it's your new forename. "Call me Earl" :D:D

Buying a 2 foot strip of land for ?30 or ?300 reqistered in the name of Lord XYZ of Smokey Bottom does not mean your name has changed or that you are now a Lord - but you do get some nice and genuine official docs from the Land Registry......but the UK land Registry does not issue Titles (no sh#t!).

Their are however "Genuine" Titles for sale, but proving that they are genuine (and not contested or lapsed) is very difficult - no central register in 1152 that has been updated ever since.......and this stuff attracts shysters who are quite happy to take advantage of the fact that the evidence of Title has been lost in the mists of time, at least enuf not to get prosecuted for selling bollox and who will call you Pope for the right fee (as will I ).

The Scottish Laird is quite popular to sell (to Americans?!), but are even less genuine than the English ones......the phrase "All Chiefs and no Indians springs to mind".

For £10 you can be Lord of SV650.org - upon receipt of the cheque you can have the paperwork.

You want to become an ordained minister as well, I did a few years ago from some crackpot online church in the US.

I might buy a title, then I can be the Reverand Lord Lozzo of Wootton (sh1thole village I grew up in as a brat). I am actually distantly related to Sir William Norman Birkett, 1st Baron Birkett PC (The alternative judge at the Nuremberg war crimes trials) - he was my English grandad's cousin.

We bought a Ladyship title for one of the girls in work a few years back.. just for a laugh. It cost £30 at the time and it gained her so many square feet of land in Scotland somewhere. She was allowed to call herself Lady Elizabeth !!!
