So anyone here good with painting vans? I have an idea, yes I am clearly mad, but we all knew that!

Right I think my van should either be pained up to look like the A-Team van or the Mystery Machine van from Scobby Doo the cartoon (probally one of my favourites:D) I think it would look just awesome:D

Just a crazy idea, no money to do it with, but I think its a cool idea:D

How about white, with flourescent stripes, flashing lights on the roof and the word "POLITE" on it :)

Get you through traffic :P

Also you could sneak it into the works respray/repair system :P

A couple of years ago I saw an old VW van that had been shortened by a about a third - had the rear suspension jacked up something stupid - huge silver alloys, and painted like the mystery machine - uttely mad but extremely cool :smt119

Maybe a padded van, so you don't hurt yourself when rolling around in your straight jacket?

He bought it to the office a few times when I was there, it looked gorgeous, I was extremely jealous, I get the impression the handling was "ok", but they had massive overheating problems.

Possibly my all time best boss ever (DC, if you're reading - good times mate, good times), loved his cars, loved his bikes (916 Senna rep owner if I remember correct).

I am carless at the moment..........never been a big one on cars - but they are very useful now and again - especially since sooner or later the Scooter will be going (or stopping!).

Am looking at getting a small Van........the thought occurred to me to get it signwritten. My current favourite is "The Three legged Donkey Support Centre" - with a graphic of a Donkey propped up with a Bar Stool.

I like the Scooby Do idea - but not sure if I could cope with the embarrassement of the A Team :p........although on a Daihatsu Hijet maybe it would be pretty cool

I like the donkey idea, thats sounds fun! I wonder how harder it is really to do this and turn the van into the mystery machine:cheers:

No my van doesn't need padding, I'm am quite clearly very sane:-D

I suspect it is something that needs to be done very well to look good.....and that is a lot harder work than at first sight..........otherwise yer risk looking liking a Chav.

One of the years Scoobs went to the boxing day meet in Wickham Square there was a Mystery machine there.

Had a 90GBP escort estate as a last minute vehicle to Glastonbury, It was white but soon had flames on the bonnet and coming up from the rear wheel arches. 1 tin of BT yellow, some masking tape and a can of red paint was all it took for omy best (and only) paint job ever.

Do what ever you want with what you can get your hands on cheaply.....

I am actually going to being some common sense into the equation ... where is this van going to live?

If it is on the street, then have some consideration for your local neighbourhood ... no one wants an A-Team/Ghostbusters/Scoobydoo mobile in their street do they ;)

Further to that, you must have better things to spend your cash on ... like tracktime ;)

To be fair I don't care what folk think in neighbourhood do you think some of they like me after starting a bike with a race can on @ 5am to ride to work? Also who in their right mind, mind would steal a Scoobydoo mobile?

Yeah a Scoobydoo mobile was last seen making from a bank job, umm do ya think people might notice it??

Yup its a no money crazy project as I said before, but it made some of you laugh, or just think I may be just ever so slightly be alittle crazy...

The next things r now, that the van is almost done (just needs a quick service) is to service my road bike, get the other going, save then off to track again.

I'm not that bad really, not my fault I have to start work at that time! I'm actually quite with my bike, as I don't want waking either, however the 6 lane road in front of the house, is far louder than my bike!

As for bad test, in the family at the moment we have a gold car:p so you know I think think kitting the van up will be in good taste!

Dont you have connections to some kind of "Yoof" project.

Get some of the local taggers to come do your van - just make sure you mask the windows/doorhandles 1st

They will probably even provide their own paint :)

There's a scooby van and an A-team van down this end of the country. Both look good though only the A-team van manages to be cool!

My Uncle used to have an A-Team van years ago. I was only about 7 or 8, but i remember them turning up at our house in it, was well cool, had the cream seats and everything. I was Faceman for the day :D
