Road safety campaigners have condemned a motorcyclist who videoed himself travelling at 147mph and then posted the film on a popular website.
The video shows the biker speeding on the A27 between Shoreham, West Sussex, and Lewes, East Sussex, to the sound of an explicit rock song.

of course it wasn't as bad as they say
let's translate:
"The bike weaves between vehicle" = overtaking
"almost crashes into a car" = passed a car
"basically amounts to the person trying to commit suicide" = we've run out of kitten murdering metaphors
but the quote i love is the picture caption:
"The bike's speedometer was shown rising on YouTube"
erm... they do that...
oh, and mototech; meow bitch;)

... just down the road from me!
Local paper was a giggle:
"The unfortunate thing is that someone else who looks at the video might want to do the same or even try to go faster."
Guess where the vid can be viewed...

Ooh, "the CBR600F sportsbike almost careers off the road at one point".
Umm, not really. Anyway, good luck to Sussex Police with their investigation.

Hmm, it is clearly dangerous, but a bit like a slow ghostrider. He does have a bit of a near miss towards the end of the vid where a car pulls back into the left lane but he has committed to undertaking it. Basically, if you ride like that all the time you have a very high chance of coming a cropper.

Good to see the poilce dedicating police detectives time to persuing someone who didn't hurt anyone rather than catching people who actualy have hurt someone.

Good point the only person he is likely to hurt is himself! this kind of reinforces my thoughts about getting another 650, i mean the way the police are now anything over 120 will get you a ban and possibly prison time now who needs that! im seriously thinking about getting rid of two 1000cc bikes and getting an sv and sorting the suspension out makes alot more sense in todays world.

have you considered supermoto?
my DRZ won't do a real 100mph, but i have more fun on that than doing over the ton on the SV, until they make wheelies/stoppies a capitol offence i'd say you can have more fun on an SM than a sportsbike;)

oh, and having seen the video, it's hardly ghostrider, he slows down when negotiating other vehicles, he indicated on the roundabout and did a lifesaver. ironically, the only driver not sitting in the outside lane like a vegetable but trying to get back into the LHL as you should was the only one who almost caught him out:rolleyes:
Just watched the video
Skillful riding, one near miss, TBH whilst 147 is downright idiotic I wish I could ride like that.
i tell you who it wasnt! everyone with an sv650 is in the clear :-)
There are some one here that would disagree, they think thier bikes do 145mph!!
Anyhoo, they wern't really trying...pah. Been faster on my pushbike :):smt110

No it wont. Wake up.

yes it will, i've seen it, on a private road of course...

and next time he does it somebody does get hurt, turns out the police knew about a biker travelling at ridiculous speeds he even posted his boastings on the internet video site "youtube", but they chose to do nothing about it....
and on and on it goes. whatever the police do, they can do no right

Well it wasnt me, I was in london :D
And it can't have been my dad, he dosn't know how to mount his camera onto his bike
But he might know of some people who can and would do such a thing...we once watched a video of some of his aquantinces (i.e. people he kinda knows, but not actual freinds) blasting about on their bikes. One guy in particular was shown to be doing 170 mph....in shorts and t-shirt

This is why every time i think "oo, i fancy a gsxr alongside my sv as a playtoy" i then og onto think "but where will i make more of its extra performance..."
Which is why I often flip to the other extreme of get an ST1300 pan euro, and then sort the handling of the SV out. TBH, even with 33bhp, I'm having a cracking time and can;t see what more fun I'll have with 69bhp, apart from making life a little easier when two-up
Hmmmm

go on you know you want to, but you are right i very rarely get chance to get the best from the kwak on the roads, usually in 3rd tops. It is nice knowing that i can open the tapps and be doing silly speeds in no time though .

Doesn't look that dangerous to me, except for the car near the end. But I can understand why he didn't expect a car to do as it should do.
P.s I doubt he was really doing 147, averages 100ish

if i wasn't going to lose so much in the process i'd be tempted to sell the SV and DRZ and get one supermoto - something like a husky or SXV, incredibly mad but requires some serious spannering to keep it tip top

"If you are being overtaken by a rider at that sort of speed it can cause you to lose control.
On the article ... how do they work that one out? "oh dear he's just gone past me 70mph faster, I'd best drive into the armco" wtf?

My SV will really do 147 MPH. :smt045
(Of course it involves being strapped onto the back of a Ferrari) :smt045
should have at least taken it to 150 .... 147 is a neither here or there number. I like nice neat numbers
shall I go sleep now?
