Folks

bit of an emergency, the screen on my bike split in two last weekend. A warranty claim is in with Honda, but don't hold out much hope. In the meantime I need my bike this weekend and have decided on a Fabri double bubble job.

What I need is the recommendation's of on-line retailers who can be relied on to deliver in next two days! Who are reliable?

I got my DB from Bill Smith's. Called them to order, it arrived next day so I went in to pay & collect. Wasn't any more expensive than online either.

But that was for the SV, not the VFR. Have you tried calling Colwyn Bay to see how quickly they can get hold of one?

Yes and they 'might' get one for Friday, but getting there to pick it up is a problem. would be better if it can be delivered here. A&D cannot guarantee when it will be here either.

I had real trouble tracking down a Fabbri when I bought my new screen a few weeks ago. Everyone seemed to be out of stock and not know how long until they had them.

I ended up going for a Powerbronze and to be honest I'm glad I did, was delivered next day and is a really nice screen.

Phone Demon Tweeks, they tend to have a large amount of screens in stock so may be able to deliver by the weekend or you could collect.

Gaffa tape for this weekend?

Luckypants
16-04-08, 10:46 AM
Yes Stu, gaffa tape will be used if needed. Silver to match the bike! however it looks like a 500 mile weekend so would prefer a proper job.

Good call, but they have no stock for my bike. They have stopped doing Fabri to and Skidmarx ones will be 2 weeks!

Sorry to hear you're having no luck with your screen.

What about drilling the old screen each side of the crack all the way along and using zip ties. Not pretty but very sturdy. Bit like you really. :smt031

Lilly I already looked, there is one, a skidmarx but these have a bad reputation as it has no locating lugs at the base like other makes and the OE screen.

Pete, I take that as a compliment. :smt074

Thanks for all the help guys. Turns out Motrax (who now do Fabri screens) have no stock in the UK, so the chances of a dealer having one in are pretty remote.

I'll have to order one and gaffer tape the screen. :( Will order off the dealer and see if they will help with cost as the screen just broke. Not had the bike 12 months! :smt075

That was a serious suggestion LP. Not often you get one from me:p

Not sure how reliable gaffa tape is and if it is in a high pressure area then it may not hold. I'm guessing you're not gonna spend 500miles pootling ;)

actually the screen seems pretty stable before gaffering Pete, unless I take hold of it and flap it around. The crack is pretty close to the edge so nowhere to drill for the most part. I gaffered it yesterday and went to the BP meet at the tap. 100 odd miles (with slight detour) and seemed rock solid. Gave it a work out on the motorway to, at real world speeds (ahem) and all was good. :D

Hi all, Not really got an answer But would too like to know where I could get a screen from. Just bought my first SV, K8 in black and was wondering if it possible to get a red screen. Any thoughts

Don't buy a red screen! IMO.:D

And, LP, have you got a replacement screen yet?

No, Honda want some more piccies of the crack, but have been using the bike so have not taken any yet. My worry is taking the gaffer tape off to photograph the crack will fubar the screen completely, meaning my bike is not usable. Still waiting for Fabri to get stock. :(

I'm thinking that may look pretty good as the red seat is there, would have to be iridium (is that the type I am thinking of? and is it possible to get red ones lol).

Do a search for pictures of Regency23's bike - he has a red (ish) iridium screen on a black SV. Or can you post a picture in this thread Mike? (Regency23)

Good thought LP. I was thinking more of the translucent type of screen but Regencys is an Iridium type I think.
