If so, free to a good home is one of these:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fuji-FinePix-F401-Digital-3xOptical/dp/B00006IJKB

It takes photos, but they always come out a rather fetching shade of green/purple jagged lines, with nothing else in them (its not the screen thats broken, the USB transfer comes out with the same JPEGs).

I have no idea whats done it, probably a drop, but it seems a shame to bin it?

Any ideas anyone?

Lemme know if you want it?

I have a Fuji fine pix that I broke, I called up Fuji help desk and they gave me a 1 year warranty and fix what ever was wrong with the camera for ?99 I think it was. (was about 6 months ago so can't remember)

worth a try

Sorry, my fault for half a story:

I've had the camera since 2002 and have since replaced it. I have no intention whatsoever in investing any more money in it. Takes very decent photos though for its age.

Ar, I meant "took".

UPDATE:

Good new for people with broken cameras. Looky here:

I just called Fuji on the offchance and theyre sending a jiffy box to send the camera back in. The sister version of mine (F410 rather than my F401) was recalled with exactly the same problem. Internally they're almost similar.

My serial number is not within the bounds of the fault, but they'll likely repair it for free, due to the symptoms, and the likelihood that it should be.

Woohoo - another Ooger victory!
